Mission: The aspen skiing company environment foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the enhancement and protection of the environmental quality of the roaring fork valley region. We support projects that promote environmental education and research; seek to reduce the impacts of climate change; foster responsible stewardship of our natural resources; protect our mountain ecosystems; and preserve and create opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Programs: Land conservation, wildlife, and habitat protection:to support efforts to protect in-stream flows in the upper colorado river from kremmling to glenwood springs; to engage,inform, and motivate members of local communities to pursue an environmentally responsible update to the federal land use plan for the area;to support the maroon bells trail reconstruction project;to support the elk mountains fourteeners trail maintenance and data collection project;to support the maroon bells-snowmass wilderness campsite rehabilitation project;to support the 2013 red hill trail maintenance & improvement project;support for wilderness ranger internship program
responsible oil and gas development:to support education on the impacts of oil and gas drilling in the thompson divide; support for gas field justice program
energy conservation and renewables:highlight the need for aggressive action in four policy areas: carbon emissions, renewable energy, energy efficiency and electric vehicle; protecting public lands and wilderness in colorados central mountains; to support overflights in conjunction with efforts to protect the thompson divide region outside of carbondale for natural gas development; reporting on energy development;to support air sealing of the quad and long hall of third street center
