Mission: To provide programs for professionals and students. Professional programs include multimedia training opportunities, executive leadership programs, and fellowships. Student programs include media internships, journalism trainings, internship grants and journalism scholarships.
Programs: Executive leadership program: a three stage program which explores the responsibilities and challenges of the print, broadcast and new media marketplace. Participants explore the challenges that face them as asian american and pacific islanders in the media, and learn leadership skills to help them face those challenges and move forward in their careers. There are over 400 graduates of the executive leadership program since the program began in 1995.
scholarship program: aaja provides scholarships to deserving students committed to a career in journalism. The program is open to all students. Journalism scholarships, internship grants, media internships, journalism training and graduate school scholarships are all available.
journalism camp program (j-camp): j-camp is a national multicultural journalism program for high school students, held this year in east lansing, michigan. There is no fee to apply and all costs are covered: including airfare, lodging and meals. This year, michigan state university campus graciously hosted the dorm and housing facilities for all those who attended the camp. Students selected demonstrated a keen interest in broadcasting, newspapers, magazines, photojournalism, and online media. J-camp's goal is to develop the next generation of journalists. This six day training camp brings together a multicultural group of high school students from across the nation to sharpen their journalism skills and work together in a unique learning environment. The curriculum consists of interactive workshops, hands-on training and field trips.
