Programs: Act academy is the core program for asante children's theatre. The program is designed to develop an array of life skills for youth while providing instruction in the performing arts for youth ages 12-18 years. During this fiscal year act had over 42 young people participate in this program. Presented 10 main-stage performances in various community venues around the city of indianapolis.
act prep4life is a customizable introduction to the world of performance art i. E. , acting, singing, dancing and storytelling. It is appropriate for youth 6 to 18 years of age. It teaches the fundamentals while also increasing self-esteem, teamwork and respect of authority. We served over 180 youth from september 2016 to june 2017. We presented 6 performances. We served over 394 youth from june 2017 to july 2017 through our 7 partners. Each site had a showcase to end the camp experience.
act4adults is a program for act alums and others to provide the academy and prep4life programs with workshop facilitators, mentor actors, assistant directors, technicians and vocalists. They also perform in their own staged presentations. Fifteen performers were engaged in various capacities from september 2016 to june 2017. Over 7 staged performances took place.
