Mission: "We, the citizens of Rhode Island, associate ourselves for the purpose of providing a local forum and home for the arts, through the maintenance of residential and work studios, galleries, performance and educational spaces. Exhibitions and performances in the forum will be unjuried, uncensored and open to the general public. Our facilities and services are made available to all artists who need a place to exhibit, perform, or create their original artwork, especially those who cannot obtain space to exhibit or perform from traditional sources because of financial or other limitations."

Programs: Theater, performance space & galleries: we provide an unjuried, uncensored, all ages forum for the arts; every artist residing in rhode island has the opportunity to exhibit or perform their original work in our venues. As220, inc. Presents an extraordinary range of activities under one umbrella. The performance space showcases 8-12 events weekly including: live music, performance art, figure drawing, poetry slams, fashion shows, and much more. In the course of a year, over 150 diverse visual artists will show work in any one of as220, inc. 's four exhibition spaces. 95 empire black box presents mostly original theater, hosts monthly residencies, sound performances, film screenings, late night programming and is complimented by school@95, which offers classes and workshops in theater, dance, and performance. Our unjuried and uncensored booking policy ensures that a limitless variety appears on our stages and on our walls.
as220 industries: the as220 industries include the community printshop, as220 media arts, and as220 labs. These programs provide low cost education and access to equipment and facilities through individual memberships to the facilities and classes. The programs also serve the community through the utilization of the expertise of the artists involved though contracted work, the sale of original artworks, and the innovative initiatives of dedicated program leaders and members. In fiscal year 2014, over 125 classes were offered to the community through our as220 industries.
as220 youth: the as220 youth studio, formerly located in south providence and now housed in our empire street building, makes art accessible to young people through a variety of courses including: drawing, painting, digital recording, poetry, creative writing, performance, photography, music, digital fabrication and computer classes. Approximately two-dozen classes are offered each week at no charge to young people between the ages of 14 and 20. As220, inc. Also pioneered an arts immersion program at the rhode island training school (rits) / youth development center (ydc), the state's juvenile detention center, offering an additional 10-12 workshops each week within the facility's walls. This exposure to the arts taps into an often-overlooked creative potential, offering a powerful alternative for these young people. Upon release from the rits, the as220 youth studio at empire street offers young people the opportunity to continue their experience with the arts with a team who has become familiar with their needs and talents.
as220, inc. Owns and manages three mixed-use buildings in downtown providence, rhode island, totaling approximately 100,000 sq ft. We offer affordable housing and studio space for approximately 60 artists on the upper floors of each of our three downtown buildings, including 48 live/work studios and 11 work only studios. We also provide offices for two other non-profits and 8 commercial tenants on the ground level. Real estate activities include revenues of $303,876. Other program services had fiscal year 2014 revenues of $221,550 and expenses of $1,014,481.
