Mission: Aruna project brings and sustains freedom to victims of commercial sexual exploitation through employment marked by holistic care.
Programs: Aruna project continues to see growth in the wholly owned freedom business in india. There are now two transitional housing facilities, nine full time management staff, and 28 artisans (women freed, empowered, and employed). There is also a training center in the heart of the brothel system to accelerate the freedom process for the enslaved. The training center has 6 full time and 4 part time staff serving the women in the area through daily engagement at the brothels, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and skill & trade development.
aruna runs are also growing in their impact to reach more and raise greater awareness. In 2017, thousands ran "for her freedom- and understood the issues surrounding commercial sexual exploitation in a more personal and comprehensive way. Additionally, participants were able to see and understand more fully how their participation is helping fulfill the mission of the aruna project on behalf of the women in need. Women were freed as a result of the activity of the aruna runs.
