Mission: Arts for a Better Tomorrow harnesses the transformative power of the arts to provide underserved youth with life skills, coping tools, academic readiness, and a strategic path to a healthy, productive, and self-sustaining future.
Results: Many of our students who had dropped out of school have returned and are now finishing middle and high school.
Target demographics: Young people find the tools within to bring down those protective barriers through the healing elements of the arts
Direct beneficiaries per year: 80 young people (13 to 20 yrs old) and have worked with universities in Los Angeles, California and Tijuana, Mexico.
Geographic areas served: public schools in Los Angeles, California and rural areas and orphanages in Tijuana, Mexico
Programs: ABT programs uses the arts in particular theater, combined with elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT ), to help address issues that include: Anxiety and depression Violence prevention (Including teen dating violence) Self-discovery, acceptance, and expression Low self-esteem ABT programs will also include: Academic support and tutoring Spanish and English language learning through the arts Educational field trips with prominent artists Career day with business professionals
