Programs: Arts in education programs reached approximately 200,000 children and included the contracting of 52 arts plus residencies in schools which directly involved over 7,000 students in in-depth interdisciplinary programs with professional teaching artists. It also regrants funds from the njsca to 26 morris county arts organizations.
arts participation/advocacy: the arts participation programs make arts programming available to the public with a goal to foster broad, deep and diverse cultural arts participation throughout morris county. Advocacy focuses on efforts to make the arts a vibrant and sustainable part of the community. It includes a scholarship program for high school students in morris county and an annual free celebration of the arts that recognizes the contributions of individuals and organizations to the arts in the morris area, and a career development workshop for artists. Morris arts is committed to creative placemaking projects. Creative placemaking is when partners from the public, private, non-profit, and community sectors strategically shape the physical and social character of a neighborhood, town, city or region around arts and cultural activities. Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvinates structures and streetscapes, improves local business visibility and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and to be inspired.
