Mission: The arc lancaster lebanon empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (i/dd) to lead full, satisfying, independent lives of their choice, identifies resources, explains rules and regulations, and enables connections with others who understand and are in the same place.
Programs: Individual, educational & systems advocacy - helping over 500 people navigate the complex rules and regulations related to their services of support, as well as making sure their voice and concerns are heard at a local or statewide level.
community education & support - help for people with an intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families such as family support sessions (trainings on topics of interest); sibtalk (a recreational time for kids ages 8-12 with a sibling with a disability); arc angel (facilitates gifts given by the community to over 700 individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities); disability acceptance training(helping kids grades k-6 have an understanding of peers with disabilities, reaching over 1,500 students annually); and outreach to the community working to create a world where disability is accepted as a natural part of our society.
im4q (independent monitoring for quality) - the arc coordinates the im4q statewide monitoring program for lancaster which obtains individual/family/guardian perspectives about services received from local providers. A team of monitors, including individuals with a disability or a family member of a person with a disability, conducted 147 surveys of individuals who are supported by the intellectual disability system and their families. The results are used by county and state agencies and the data is compared nationally to make positive changes in the life of people with an intellectual or developmental disability.
