Mission: The mission of the aob is to connect the community to aquatic and terrestrial life through education, inspiration and conservation.
Programs: Aquarium of boise houses over thirty exhibits with over 288 different specifies of fish, reptiles, amphibians and tropical birds from around the world. A kid favorite, the shark and ray tank allows visitors to feed and pet the animals under staff supervision. Informational exhibits are located around the aquarium highlighting conservation issues. The aquarium also has a quarantine and hospital area that is not open to the public, but is used to care for animals and acclimate new residents to life in boise. Aquarium of boise educated nearly 100000 visitors in 2016 about not only the life in the aquarium, but conservation efforts and oceans in general. Over 7780 children from the treasure valley and eastern oregon were given special field trip tours with an emphasis in education as it related to their curriculum. Aob owns a van that is used to transport the animals that can safely be routinely transported to community events and on classroom visits.
