Mission: ConnectingTexans with the Social Justice organizations they care about throughworkplace giving programs and other philanthropic initiatives. We dothis to mobilize and empower average citizens as philanthropists andcommunity activists to act as catalysts in transforming their vision ofthe community into reality.
Programs: Our agencies address a wide range of issues that include health, homelessness, poverty, human rights, racial and economic equality, low-income housing, children and youth, cultural awareness, animal care, the concerns of people who are elderly or disabled. Through workplace giving, we mobilize agerage citizens to shape their community by supporting organizations that are changing attitudes that maintain the status quo, improve public policies and provide a social net that catches people when they need help. Our work is centered on change, not charity and is especially important because individual donors are the sole support for mamy of our organizations. rogressive agendas. At this time, AWTS plans to expand its workplace giving campaigns into additional larger corporations, small businesses and public employers. Employees have welcomed the opportunity to contribute to an expanded range of critical human needs in an efficient and convenient way, with virtually no extra cost. As more employers offer this benefit, they provide a more stable funding base for the nonprofit agencies that serve the needs of low-income and marginalized persons. In addition to providing opportunities for education and fundraising in the workplace, AWTS offers its members additional services: training in nonprofit management and public speaking, marketing on the Internet, new networking opportunities and added visibility in the community, to name a few.
