Mission: To enhance and to promote healthy living conditions for the low-to-moderate income people in the greater houston area through social services, education and housing.
Programs: Adult daycare center / meal site / community outreach annam community development corporation has experienced exceptional growth both in terms of program services and numbers of units served. During the year 2014, annam cdc provided meal services including snack and well- balanced freshly made on site for 634 at-risk seniors monday through friday. A great majority of these seniors participated in a variety of program such as gardening, fitness, yoga, computer class, esl classes, field trips, social services referral. As many of our senior population were advancing in age, their overall healthcare inevitably has become a great concern for the organization. As a result, annam cdc has collaborated with the christus healthcare living mobile unit and the community medical professionals to provide on-site health screening, vaccinations and diagnostic services such as mammogram for the uninsured and low-income constituents. Annam cdc provided healthcare services to 429 underserved in the year 2014.
food pantry during the year 2014, as many of the oil-related workers experienced the economic downturn, annam cdc food pantry program expanded to the maximum capacity the facility could possibly handle. The 602 family units served in the year 2013 swelled to 798, a 32% increase within a year. Annam community development has distributed more than 800,000 pounds of food from houston food bank, costco, heb, asian market and community garden to low income family.
computer lab in 2014, annam cdc provided seniors and low-income families with updated technological skills. The classes covered basic to advanced levels including computer operation from microsoft word, excel, powerpoint and photoshop, as well as audio and video editing. The purpose of the computer lab is to help the seniors and low-income people become assimilated to their increasingly technologically driven environment. There were 68 seniors who participated in the computer training program.
