Mission: The Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley is on a mission to improve the quality of life in our community by connecting people and pets.
Results: The Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley, the first “no kill” shelter in Idaho, promotes companion animal welfare by providing temporary shelter for homeless animals, adopting them to qualified homes and reducing animal abuse, neglect and overpopulation through community education and spay/neuter services. In 2014, more than 1500 animals received vital services from the Shelter. This includes more than 475 animal adoptions, 451 dogs and cats spayed or neutered, and over 9,000 pounds of food distributed through our Paws for Hunger partnership with The Hunger Coalition. Programs: In 2014, more than 1,750 animals received vital services from the shelter. This includes 489 animal adoptions, 449 dogs and cats spayed or neutered, 393 microchips implanted, 453 animals vaccinated for rabies, 230 animals rescued from overpopulated regional animal shelters and over 10,000 pounds of food distributed through our paws for hunger partnership with the hunger coalition. The animal shelter of the wood river valley is funded almost entirely by private donations & grants. The shelter has adopted out almost 12,500 animals. The animal shelter of the the wood river valley is continually connecting people and animals within and beyond our community.
