Mission: For more than 90 years amit has been providing the best jewish values-based education to israeli children, regardless of their socioeconomic and religious background. Today, the amit network operates 110 schools, youth villages, surrogate family residences and other programs in 29 israeli cities, and it was recently named the country's leading educational network by the education ministry. Amit is the only government-recognized network of religious jewish education incorporating academic and technological studies. Motivated by the vision of bessie gotsfeld, amit was founded in 1925 and opened the first vocational high school for girls in jerusalem in 1933. Today amit educates more than 34,000 children, 70% of whom from israel's periphery and from disadvantaged backgrounds. During its long history, amit has served diverse populations, responding to the crises, challenges and tragedies of jewish history.
