Mission: The american friends of the spafford children's center raises funds to support a center which provides remedial education and social services to those in need.
Programs: The spafford children's center (scc) in east jerusalem and the west bank in 2017 requested $49,980. 00 for one year to support the building positive mother and child relationships (bpmcr) therapeutic program for children suffering from developmental disorders, post trauma stress reactions, and strained familial relationships. Scc has identified children and mothers who experience stress in their daily lives due to the effects of the occupation and the lack of quality schools and reliable employment. By bringing mothers and children together in activities designed to improve their communication, give them an outlet for stress, and reinforce the traditional strengths of palestinian families, the scc is helping build resilient relationships that will sustain the children and parents.
the scc in 2017 helped children develop better self-regulation through an individualized plan of remedial teaching and behavior therapy, group counseling, psychomotor and coordination therapy, plus sensorimotor and other creative therapies.
