Mission: Eretz Hemdah's goal is to train rabbinic leaders who are knowledgeable in all areas of Jewish law and who show sensitivity to the concerns of all Jews. Eretz Hemdah's students must complete a rigorous 7-year academic program. Those who are Israeli citizens must complete their army service before enrolling, and all of them supplement full-time study with a half-day of community service each week. Many of Eretz Hemdah's students broaden their academic horizons further as university students. The graduates of Eretz Hemdah are awarded the highest level of rabbinical ordination, known as Yadin Yadin, and are recognized by the Israeli government as having earned the equivalent of a Ph.D.
