If I could give AFA 1000 stars I would. I cannot praise them enough for the wonderful work they do. When the wildfires broke out in Maui in August 2023, AFAs disaster relief team contacted our club (the Hawaiian Feathered Friends Network) to find out if anyone needed assistance. This was right from the start, when the shelters were first being set up. AFA was offering help to our people.

Every time we have had some sort of disaster (volcanic eruption, hurricane, big windstorm, you name it), AFA has reached out to our club to offer assistance to any bird owners who needed help. They didn't have to be AFA members. They didn't have to be donors. If they were in need, they got what they needed.

The birds that were displaced by the Maui Wildfires needed cages, food, toys, and a place to live. We provided the "boots on the ground" to find people who needed assistance, and AFA worked hard to secure those donations. We are very grateful for what they have done to help the birds on Maui. No one else was helping the birds. Maui Humane Society wasn't helping them. We tried to contact the Maui Humane Society many times, and we had other organizations try to contact them about helping the birds that were saved from the fires and we got nothing. AFA was the only one that offered help.

This is a photo of when our board flew to Maui to assemble cages, and deliver toys, and perches to the displaced birds. Every few weeks, AFA has been sending food and toys to Maui to help the birds.

AFA is a wonderful organization and most people do not realize all the good work they do behind the scenes. They work to preserve our right to own birds and keep birds, by fighting onerous legislation at the Federal, State, and County level. They are there to help birds when disaster strikes. They are there to disseminate useful information about the proper care of birds.

I appreciate AFA and all that they do.

Hmmm, rave reviews by who other but themselves. I wonder where all their money goes. The Watchbird must be one heck of an expensive magazine. Does it really cost over $100,000 a year to produce 6 issues? And what happened to the review from a former member who was disgusted by them allowing their former president and convicted child molester to pose with children at their annual, self-congratulatory convention? (Maybe that's where all their money goes). I'd give AFA zero stars if it were an option.

The AFA--American Federation of Aviculture, Inc is one of the best organizations I have ever been part of. From Education to Conservation, they help birds in the wild and educate those who have birds or are interested in birds. They have online education courses, Kids events, and more. The conventions are the most diversified events I have participated in, and the Board of Directors are wonderful people who dedicate their lives to birds. The Disaster Program has helped so many in their time of devastation, I am Proud to be a volunteer for such a wonderful organization and I am a life time member as well. Anyone who has a interest in birds should support this wonderful group.

You would be hard pressed to find an organization more dedicated to their mission statement. I am honored to be part of AFA and proud of the work we all do. As someone said just a few days ago at the 38th AFA Convention, "It is not about me, it is about the birds." That says it all very well!!

I support the American Federation of Aviculture (AFA) because they care about birds. The AFA is devoted to the future of birds through education, conservation and legislative awareness. Their online educational programs provide excellent information for anyone that lives with birds. AFA has always been a supporter of conservation and research. AFA members donate money and time to help preserve the population of birds in the wild. AFA also helps to fund much needed research to improve the future of birds. This is a volunteer organization whose members are dedicated to the future of birds.

The fellowship I observed at the AFA convention was truly remarkable. All ages, all occupations from all over and yet warmly connected by a common bond - the love , fascination and interest in birds. The desire to protect them in the wild by saving habitat and to protect their future as our pets with vigilance and education. There were folks represented at the convention who have been involved for all 35 years and those who spend all their free time working towards this convention and the newbies (like me) who watched in awe. This event is serious and multifaceted with programs for the newest and youngest of pet owners to the hobby and advanced breeders. It was also silly and slap stick when the daily raffle prizes where drawn. These folks know how to study and work and play. The final banquet was a real lesson in acceptance and joy of sharing as we came together to celebrate each other wearing whatever suited - from jeans to long gowns - the dress code for the week was always - no dress code. All year this totally volunteer organization works to stay aware of trends and share that information in a gorgeous publication called " The Watchbird ". Their effort to share and educate is topped off each year with the Annual AFA Convention. An enormous and unselfish project that included unique venders, shopping , educational displays, wonderful lectures, awards and prizes, all packed into a 5 day reunion of old and new friends who all love birds. What a treat!

The goal of the American Federation (AFA) is to ensure long-term, self-sustaining populations of exotic birds both in captivity and in the wild, by education, conservation and research, and legislative awareness. The Board is made up of unpaid vounteers and most income funds education, Watchbird magazine, conservation, and disaster relief. This organization is doing a fantastic job with little funds.

The American Federation of Aviculture is the greatest organization I have ever been a part of. Being a basic beginner or hobby breeder and lover of parrots, each and every time I attend any gathering of all the long-timers, I am treated wonderful and like I have been a great friend to those people forever and they are GOOD people who make me feel right at home in hugging the President of AFA, Nancy Speed, as well as other board members and those who keep the organization up and running. I thoroughly enjoy everything about the American Federation of Aviculture, a large community of aviculturists from all walks of life and all stages of aviculture.

The American Federation of Aviculture Inc. has been the grass roots education organization for parrot and other bird keepers for over 35 years. They have assisted pet owners and breeders from Hurricanes to fires and floods. This organization has provided one of the most educational magazines in the cottage industry for as long as they have been in business. They offer a full color magazine, online education courses on bird keeping, and an annual convention where members can meet vendors and other professionals in the business. The greatest minds in aviculture come together here in this one non-profit to offer education and assistance to anyone with a pet or breeding bird. The AFA offers annual awards for First Time Breeding, Establishment of species, and more. It is a world renowned and respected organization of AVICULTURISTS and EXPERTS.

2008, 2009 I was the Broze Supporter of the American Federation of Aviculture Corporation. I also was the Commerical Member, and Member of the American Federation of Aviculture. Including the organization I founded in 2000 has been an Affiliate (Aviculture Microbiology Foundation, Inc) each single year since 1999. I feel this is important so one will understand my concern as well my reputation regarding any conspiracy around felony sex crimes on children convicted and sentenced with parole hearing in 2044 by the President of the American Federation of Aviculture. James Charles Hawley birth08/1953 was President of AFA 2006 till the day he was arrested 12/30/2010. Watch Bird Magazine did two ful pages of ten photos of this man with children. My name is in the magazine as Bronze Supporter of the Corporation. This past July when I asked questsons when this came up in another group that I was part of this conspiracy to sex crimes on children.. I was shocked with the response. http://mugshots.com/US-Counties/Arizona/Maricopa-County-AZ/James-C-Hawley.8670162/details/
