Hello Everyone- I recently just lost my husband, pretty much, of 9 years.
I would love to get involved and volunteer in any way I can. I know this is a wonderful cause and I would do anything to be able to help out and volunteer in any possible way that I can.

Please feel free to contact me at: chelssskerr@gmail.com with any information possible that I could receive to learn how to volunteer and help out however I can!
I feel like it would be a great thing for me to do and help me find some new wonderful and positive activity to help me overcome my grief and find ways to keep myself busy. And I absolutely love Paws of Austin!

Thank you all so much!

Love For Big and Small...http://texasgreatdane.org/
Whether it's fostering, adopting or helping out at Adoption Events we (as a family) love giving back where animals are concerned. If I have to choose ONE volunteer job over another it'd be giving time and money to those organizations that help save and protect animals (to our surprise Haven for Hope even has a shelter for their guests dogs!). Years ago we stumbled upon Paws of Austin (a local Great Dane Rescue) and found our sweetheart Great Dane. She was an abused Dane that needed lots of love and help. Not knowing what would come to be, we adopted her while fostering for another local Great Dane Rescue. Although she had 'baggage' she was the sweetest dog that ever came into our home and despite her neurological issues we loved her so much. It was frustrating and sad at times when you could see the confusion on her face and you knew that there was nothing that could help her. We put all of our time and energy into finding alternatives to help her and we met some amazing people along the way (as well as some interesting remedies) but never did cross paths with one course of treatment that would help. Our sweetheart Dane is no longer with us but she did lay the ground work for our passion to help- and that will never stop. Giving (whether it be our time, our money or our love) is very important to us because we have seen over and over again how it can positively impact in even the smallest way.

We adopted our second Great Dane his year (2015) from PAWS of Austin and I'm sure it won't be our last one!

This is a great organization that not only provides the best care for each animal they rescue, they help by educating the adopters and the general public about proper care and responsible pet ownership. They do not limit themselves to any one breed or species - any and all are welcome in their group!

They are a big supporter to help end puppy mills and do everything they can to help shut down puppy mills and aid in taking in puppy mill survivors.

PAWS of Austin is made up of dedicated people who work tirelessly in their fight in advocating for those with no voice!

We had a great experience adopting. They were very helpful and checked up on us to follow up after the adoption process. Very grateful for people like them who help animals find new owners. Our donkey Penny has found her forever home and is a very happy girl.

We adopted our amazing Great Dane "Duke" from Paws of Austin. I had a wonderful and blessed experience in doing so. I was given all the details about Duke before I drove from McKinney, TX to Austin to meet him. It was love at first sight. Prima was amazing and very helpful in every aspect. I wished I lived closer so I could become a foster home, but knowing me I would keep them all!

We were humbled by the love, care and devotion Paws of Austin showers the animals with. We adopted our second Dane from Paws. A puppi which was discarded in the streets by the breader since it was deaf and partially blind, yet miraculously survived in the wild for months. Finally, it was captured by a rescue but was going to be uthanized since now it was also extremely emanciated. At this time, Paws of Austin fought to take the puppi from the other rescue so it can have a chance to experience love, life and family. Today this puppi is a year and a half old beautiful, healthy and playful Great Dean with a family who adores him. His name is Blizard. Thank you Paws of Austin and thank you Prima, for giving Blizard a chance of life, when no one else was willing to!!! May God always shower you and Paws with his favor and blessings!!!

Paws of Austin, Great Dane Rescue, is an amazing organization. I adopted two Great Danes through them and was touched by the care and responsibility demonstrated by this organization toward the animals they rescue. The folks at Paws actually make a positive difference in the lives of animals and people they come in contact with and I will be forever grateful to them for bringing my two Danes into my life. Keep up the great work, Paws!

PAWS Of Austin is a wonderful organization. The care and dedication given to each animal is beyond measure. My experience with fostering and adopting my Lil'Bit was great. I highly recommend PAWS Of Austin to anyone looking to adopt or foster a pet. The love of animals shines like a beacon within this organization, from puppy to senior and beyond to Rainbow Bridge. Thank you for all that you do, PAWS Of Austin!

Thanks to PAWS, I have a wonderful female basset hound, named Gypsy. She was rescued in a puppy mill raid in North Texas in 2009. PAWS generously accepted an entire busload of dogs to place in forever homes. It doesn't get any better than that!

Paws of Austin is caring and loving with animals and spares no effort to make sure their adoptive homes are appropriate and provide excellent experiences for pets and owners. Prima and her associates commitment is ongoing like life insurance for pets working through Paws of Austin because her number one priority is for the animals. My Dane is surely the best dog ever but everybody should feel that way about their animal, I know Paws of Austin does.

PAWS is versatile. I adopted 2 horses from PAWS. I drove from Northeast Texas because Prima made everything so easy. I was uncertain about becoming a horse owner after not riding for 30 years. One of my horses was injured when I adopted him. Prima helped me take care of him and find a vet. We ride all the time now. I have had both horses for over a year now. Prima helped us see what a great fit we were for each other. My horses are the best. PAWS is great. And Prima is fantastic.

I first become familiar with Paws when I moved into Austin and wanted to find a way to give back to my community. Prima and her volunteers welcomed me with open arms and I quickly learned so much from them. Paws goal is to care ad help for animals. It is apparent in everything they do that the live what they preach.
Highly recommend PAWS for anyone looking to volunteer, get a dog or donate . You will not be disappointed.

I have a Dane that I love and wanted to help and organization that supports this wonderful breed. I have fostered for Paws and also pick up and transport dog that are coming into Paws from vagarious shelters around Texas.
Prima has fantastic knowledge of the breed and works in a professional and caring way with each dog.
There are many rescue groups that make it so complicated to adopt from them that dogs stay in the foster system way to long. None of that with Paws. A great organization supporting a great breed.

We just got our 2nd great dane through Paws of Austin. It is such a wonderful experience working with Prima to find your next family member. Prima gives honest descriptions about the dogs, good and bad, so you know what you are getting into. Let's face it, with a dog as big as a dane you have to be sure of what you are getting into. She went out of her way with us to make sure that we found the perfect fit for our family and lifestye. She let us live with our new dane for 3 weeks before she even suggested we finalize the adoption. She truly cares about the dogs and finding homes that fit their personalities. She is also available any time after the adoption if you have any questions or need any help. We will be getting any new dogs from Prima from now on, not because we love danes-- we do-- but because we know that Prima truly cares about the dogs and also the families.

We wanted a GreatDane, but had never had one before so we started fostering with PAWS. We have fostered both Old English Sheep dogs & GreatDanes through PAWS. It was also important we find a new family member that fit with our other dog & us. While we weren't technically "foster fails," Prima knew we were looking to adopt & suggested a Dane w/another foster. He had a sad story, was still skin & bones & still limped from a hip/leg injury while he was roaming the highway before being taken-in by PAWS. But when we met him we knew he was the missing member of our family!
Not only did PAWS help us complete our family, we have met some really neat two-leg & four-leg friends! Highly recommend donating your time & money to PAWS - consider fostering or a donation.

I am aware of many miracles through PAWS OF AUSTIN. The love and courage and determination and energy of Prima and Courtney goes on and on. Just when you think things are hopeless, God sends perfect pet parents for these darling Danes (and other breeds) when it seemed impossible. From pulling them from Death Row at shelters, to fostering to adoption into Forever Homes, they are tireless. You can't save them all, but bravo for all the hard, hard work you've done all these years. There's a special place in Heaven for you guys for sure. Thanks from all the babies who have no voice.

We got both of our Great Danes through PAWS, and we couldn't be happier. Prima was remarkable and truly cares about her animals. She gets to know the personality of each pet, and she works tirelessly to find a home for each that's a good fit. She had perfect advice on how to introduce a new pet into our home and how to train one of our overly excitable Danes. I can't say enough good things about PAWS and Prima. Our two dogs (and two cats!) are a fantastic addition to our family, and we all thank PAWS!

PAWS is a wonderful organization for the rescue of many types of animals! Although we went to them looking for a Great Dane, we ended up with a 4 lb little chihuahua! Prima was AMAZING about helping us try several dogs, and although we have yet to get another Dane in our household, Prima went above and beyond helping us work with several rescues. She really knows dogs and will work hard to get the best fit for you and the dog!

This is the most caring and professional organization I have ever known. They focus on the welfare of Great Danes, who can be a challenge for people to care for if they are not prepared. Hence, Prima Mosi makes it her mission to match the dogs with the best environment for them. It may be that the dog needs to be an only pet, or placed with a larger pet, or a group of pets, etc. etc. She makes it her mission to find out what would be best before moving to place the dogs. She does not over charge or try to push a pet on someone. I had tried one pet that did not fit with my other dog. She waited to see if it would work then took him back. A year later we found the perfect match. She never pushed to force the adoption. Further, the foster family he was with still keeps in touch with us to ensure my pet is well cared for. I feel like my family enlarged and I gained an extended family.

My husband and I rescued our Great Dane, Zane from PAWS in May. We had an amazing experience with Prima from day one. They let us take Zane for a week trial to make sure he was a good fit for our family and then supported us through his heartworm treatments. Anyone looking to rescue a dog (which everyone should) should absolutely call PAWS.

I was introduced to PAWS of Austin in May of 2015. My eyesight was failing in my senior years and I had to find homes for my horses and move closer to my daughter. All horses were successfully rehomed except for "Peanut". Before I could find him a home, he foundered in both front feet. No one would adopt him! Prima Mosy of PAWS rescue never hesitated and took him into her care even knowing she would have to provide months of support for this little miniature horse until he could heal.
She is actively taking applications now for his adoption! I am so thankful for this organization. They work tirelessly to find homes for hard to place animals like my miniature horse even though their main focus is to help the large dogs that end up in shelters with very limited time. These dogs, just as my Peanut, get a second chance to find a happy, loving forever home because of this rescue and their dedicated people!

Fostering for PAWS of Austin the last 5 years has been a blessing for me and my family. While certainly the lives of the animals and their adopters are enriched, so too are the lives of the volunteers. My children have grown to be better, more empathetic and responsible people through the caring of the dogs entrusted to us. I encourage you to consider signing up to foster on their site. This is a great organization that makes a difference in Austin and throughout Texas.

PAWS is an awesome group! They graced me with my Dane, a sweet 7 year old black beauty mantle dane named Lucie, who had been bred...and bred...and bred...
Enough said.
Until I met my Lu, I honestly thought that, even 3 years after my other sweet dane had died, I would never find another Dane who could steal. my. heart.
It happened. I am so glad it to me. And my Lucie.
She deserves to live her golden years being pampered. PAWS helped to match her with me - and I can promise this hard-working and dedicated group that the match was a perfect one. Paws down!

Paws of Austin changed my life. It started with a courtesy listing of a 4 year old male Great Dane with the most beautiful amber eyes. His foster chose us to be his forever home and he is my very best friend, my angel, and my partner as a pet therapy team that visits hospitals, schools, nursing homes, etc.
It continued when we decided 2 years later to adopt another and met 6 different Danes. None of them felt right and I never felt any pressure to adopt, just support to continue trying. We waited another 6 months and it turned out #7 was the one. We adopted a beautiful 4 month old puppy who is now a source of much laughter and love (and torment to our older Dane - but he loves her too).
They are always a source of knowledge, support, and encouragement. They take on the hard cases of abuse and neglect. They also help place Danes for families that just cant keep them anymore (even if we disagree with their reasons for giving them up).
I know that my next dog will be a Great Dane. And I know that Prima and Courtney will help me find the perfect one for our family.

Rescuing any animal is hard. Many do not understand why people are so in love with dogs or cats ... Its extremely hard to find homes for these beautiful HUGE creatures ... Everyone who gives of their time money and love to this group deserves a hand shake ,hug, and a thank you. They not only care for these animals by finding them permanent loving homes but they also educate all in what it takes to be a loving pet parent .

I have adopted 3 dogs from Paws of Austin. One of the dogs, Mozart was rescued along with his 7 litter mates and his mother from the shelter. The owners of the dogs that still reside in Austin still get together every year for their birthday and every year , PAWS attends. I can also call Prima, the head of PAWS every time I am concerned about my dogs, she has walked me through obstruction surgery and Bloat. I have worked with this organization for~ 8 years and there could no one more deserving, they are amazing!

I first met Prima when I was looking for a Standard Poodle rescue. I was notified when 9 ten day old puppies and their mother was dropped off at Town Lake Animal Center and rescued by PAWS of Austin. I met and fell in love with Mozart, my 70pd Poodle. She encouraged everyone that adopted the puppies to keep up through a yahoo group and we have. We just celebrated their 5th birthday with the annual Poodle Party which Prima has never missed. She is always there for questions and support and we love her! I can't say enough about how amazing this group is. Prima and all involved make me proud to say I know them. I rescued my 1st PAWS Dane in 2003. Through the years I've had the honor of calling 6 PAWS Danes family, and currently 3 members of our pack are from PAWS, the most recent coming to us just last month. Prima does this for the love of the animals, and I respect her so very much for that. She has an ability to match the dog and the person in such a way that when she says there's one that needs our family, I say when and where do you want to meet. Whether you want to foster, adopt, or just support, this is an organization I highly recommend you becoming a part of. I am lucky and blessed to say I am.
