America Sings is an incredible organization. I love that so many young people who are passionate about music and helping the less fortunate can come together and express their talents and their generosity in such a fun way! It is such a moving experience to dance and sing with so many unique and wonderful people and the feeling you get from knowing that you have been part of something so big and so helpful to others is almost indescribable.
America Sings is a wonderful non-profit organization. It brings students and so many others together to do service projects for those in need. It is absolutely wonderful to see everyone working hard for a benefit not of their own. Also, the students get to share their music passions with everyone!
My students and I have come to volunteer and perform with America Sings for 10+ years. I continue to return because I see first hand the difference this organization is making in their lives even years after the events we attend. It was wonderful to see students collect canned goods and make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to benefit local communities. It was great to hear their stories about new friends from around the country and even better to see them organize their own volunteer efforts upon our return home from America Sings festivals. But by far the reason I keep coming back is the students who are long gone from those festivals who still write to me to say, "Hey, Mrs. P, remember at America Sings...." I know America Sings touched them in a profound way. I have seen students walk taller, sing when they thought I wasn't looking, make friends for life, all because this organization thinks it is important for students to know that they are valuable and what they have inside them can make a difference in this world. I can not think of anything much more important to equip a student with than a sense of self worth and America Sings continues to do that for thousands of kids every year.
