Mission: The university of colorado cancer center fund's mission is to raise awareness and funds for the university of colorado cancer center (cu cancer center) to support its outstanding programs in cancer prevention, care, education, research and service to the nation.
Programs: Research and program funding: the university of colorado cancer center fund (the fund) provides immediate and direct support for the research, education and treatment of cancer at one of only 40 cancer centers in the country, and the only one in the rocky mountain region, certified as a comprehensive cancer center by the national cancer institute (nci). The fund's contributions support all aspects of the fight against cancer. Some of the programs funded include: pregnancy-related breast cancer research; development of screening programs for early detection of lung cancer; community-based programs to educate people about the importance of healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition in the prevention of cancer; phase 1 clinical trials that provide the latest in cutting-edge treatment for many cancer types; a national cancer counseling and information line for patients and families; and collaboration of scientists and doctors with national and international institutions that encourage shared resources and results.
