Amazon Promise has worked in the Peruvian Amazon region for many years. They provide vital medical services to the poorest people in the region. Founder Patty Webster has been honored with numerous international awards, including CNN Hero of the Year. Despite the accolades, she remains humble. I have never met a more dedicated professional with a clear mission and a clear record of great accomplishments despite many odds.
The Amazon region has been forever changed by the important work performed by Amazon Promise. In addition to their medical trips throughout the Amazon, they have built a permanent medical clinic in Belen, a poor are of Iquitos. International medical volunteers are always eager to travel to Iquitos, Peru to support these noble efforts.

Mission: Amazon Promise is a U. S. - based non-profit global health organization founded in 1993 to provide desperately needed medical/dental care, potable water systems, and family planning to remote populations living in the upper Amazon basin of northeast Peru.
Target demographics: Alleviate immediate suffering and improve long-term health outcomes.
Geographic areas served: Remote native communities and underserved urban neighborhoods of the Peruvian Amazon, since 1993.
Programs: Our Peruvian operations are headquartered in the jungle city of Iquitos. We provide medical and dental care, including health education, family planning, and potable water systems in both remote indigenous river communities and underserved urban neighborhoods. Our volunteers and Peruvian staff form the backbone of our organization. Throughout the year, both medical, dental and non-medical volunteers work alongside our experienced staff to serve the needs of the poor.
