Causes: Alumni Associations, Education
Mission: To promote the interests of the california institute of technology as a world standard of academic excellence by strengthening the ties of goodwill and communication between the institute, its alumni and its students by maintaining programs to serve their needs.
Programs: Seminar day: this is an annual daylong seminar on the caltech campus which enables alumni and guests to be informed of the current research and most interesting projects of the caltech community, and reunite former caltech classmates who show a continued interest in the institute. Some 18 faculty lectures are supplemented by student speakers on academic topics. Approximately 19,000 alumni are invited and 913 alumni and guests attended. The day-long event featured 33 sessions and included talks by 15 caltech and jpl faculty, the huntington, 6 graduate students and 2 surf lecture series winners.
membership and communications: funds are furnished to publish the annual alumni magazine "techer" sent in print to more than 18,000 us alumni for whom we have mailing addresses, sent electronically to all other alumni. Print copies are also distributed to current students and caltech partners in admissions and development. The caa also hosts career and academic webinars and events, produces event emails, an online directory to use for the professional education, networking and enrichment of our alumni. More than 550 alumni and friends participated in these activities.
reunion weekend activities: 485 alumni and guest participated in class dinners. In total, more than 600 alumni and guests participated in at least one reunion weekend activity.
