Mission: Our organization contracts with the county of marin to refer qualified attorneys, who are appointed by the court, to represent indigent defendants in criminal cases where the public defender has declared a conflict of interest.
Programs: During 2016-2017, adi provided criminal defense attorneys for appointment by the court in 606 cases for indigent defendants. Adi paid the attorneys and provided education, investigators, and a peer review committee. Adi collaborated with county employees and other conflict panels to implement fair court processes for the clients. Adi also reviewed other appointed cases (murder, life, pro per, etc. ) and 17 ancillary bills for accuracy and reasonableness for direct payments by the county.
