Alliance For Childhood

Programs: The strengthening of effective, play based, experiential approaches to learning for young children is a key area of focus for alliance for childhood. During fiscal year 2017 alliance for childhood launched and promoted an interactive web-based on-line toolkit as a resource for pre-k and kindergarten teachers for implementing play based experiential learning.

a primary focus of alliance for childhood is the restoration of play and play based learning in the lives of children. During fiscal year 2017 alliance for childhood published and widely distributed a first-of-its-kind resource and guide for implementing loose parts play, playpods and adventure playgrounds. The book "playing it up" features chapters by 26 authors who are leaders in their respective fields. The alliance for childhood also actively promotes the value of play through involvement in numerous conference panels, presentations, workshops, professional networks and hosting exhibit booths at events.

the alliance for childhood engages in advocacy and lobbying for initiatives associated with our program areas including play, technology/screen time with young children and early childhood education. Alliance for chilhdood serves in a leadership role as an active member of the outdoors alliance for kids (oak) steering committe. In addition to our leadership role with oak, alliance for childhood continues to advocate for the every kid outdoors act and the no child left inside act. Alliance for childhood promotes educational and advocacy resources by engaging new audiences through strategic social media initiatives.
