Mission: Allegheny mountain institute (ami) is an educational non-profit organization with the mission to cultivate healthy communities through food and education.
Programs: Ami highland education farm on farm intensive education to cultivate leaders who support communities to develop resilient food systems through education, gardening, urban farms and nutrition
ami urban farm at virginia school for the deaf and blind an urban educational farm to teach and demonstrate the creation of urban food systems with hands-on learning for school children and community members of all ages. Curriculum development and training is also provided for classroom teachers
community fellowship program phase ii fellows work to improve nutrient density in the community by demonstrating and teaching gardening and farming best practices, and the connections between healthy soil, food and human health. Phase ii fellows are provided a cost of living salary while performing their year of community service in our region.
