I volunteer at The Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, been there since 2009. Each day is a new experience, with opportunities to meet artisans, learn about what they do, and work with very interesting and talented people. I feel very productive with a great sense of accomplishment, as various projects are completed, and much appreciated at the end of each day. This is the best volunteer experience I have ever had.
The Alleghany Highlands Arts & Crafts Center is a wonderful asset to the town of Clifton Forge, VA. A visitor may enjoy the gallery's current exhibit, shop in the juried gallery gift shop, or take advantage of the various classes taught throughout the year. From felting to watercolors there is something for everyone. This little center has managed to survive recessions and depressions, but only through generous donations, grants, and consigned giftshop sales. The staff and volunteers are knowledgable and eager to help. This is a "Must Visit" when in western VA and traveling on I-64 or Rt. 220 N.
