Albany Therapeutic Riding Center helps individuals from children to senior citizen who have a variety of physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychological challenges to participate in therapeutic horseback riding. The gait of a horse is similar to human muscular movement. Students are assisted by side and lead walkers during a lesson and truly blossom - gaining confidence, making strides in muscle usage, developing speech, and more. The organization is powered by volunteers and funded by donations - so there is a role for everyone who wants the organization to continue to do great work. Christine Lehman, board president, has volunteered for 34 years to make Albany Therapeutic Riding Center available to underserved populations and to make a difference in people's lives. This is the first equine therapy center in the Albany NY area and it has grown by the love of everyone involved. www.albanytherapeuticridingcenter.com is the website to learn more about volunteer opportunities and ways to donate. A Facebook page "Friends of Albany Therapeutic Riding Center" is also available. This is a very nurturing and loving environment and a great cause in which to be involved.
