Mission: To support al-shifa trust eye hospitals and their projects in pakistan and the surrounding region to fight acute eye diseases and blindness. The aims and objectives of al-shifa trust are prevention and control of blindness by providing standard and sustainable eye care services which are accessible to all; human resource development through training of doctors, nurses and paramedics; and to establish facilities for research in opthalmology. Al-shifa trust, rawalpindi has been a collaborating center for the world health organization since 1994 and is also affiliated with orbis international, usa, lions club international usa and other.
Programs: Donations to al-shifa trust, which is a non-profit and non-political organization committed to providing eye care and treatment mainly to the under privileged and poor, irrespective of age/color/creed/gender in pakistan and surrounding regions. Almost 75% of all patients attending al-shifa eye hospitals are treated free. During 2015, al-shifa trust performed over 72,200 eye surgeries, over 275,000 outpatient visits and over 340,700 screenings at eye camps. Al-shifa trust is able to meet only 30-40% of its expenses from its own sources. The remaining expenses are met through donations. Al shifa trust has built four high-quality eye hospitals in rawalpindi (punjab), muzaffarabad, sukkur (sindh) and kohat (nwfp) with the most modern facilities and equipment. Al-shifa north america foundation supports al-shifa trust by educating the public about the services provided by al-shifa trust at several annual fundraising dinner events. The proceeds from these dinners go to al-shifa trust.
