For over 30 years, Shark Research Institute (SRI) has been a leader in the efforts to bring fact-based, scientific information to the world of shark conservation. As a veteran scuba diver, with 65 years of diving around the world, including as a professional military diver and underwater cinematographer, I believe SRI has had an excellent effect on creating awareness about how important shark conservation is worldwide. Working with scientists around the world, SRI research contributes to critical legislation to protect sharks. They have set the bar for conservation efforts worldwide through their education programs, shark ecotourism, global shark attack database, and support for films about shark conservation. SRI does most of this hard work from sponsors and individual donors like us who care about the oceans and sharks. If you're someone who cares about the ocean, and the sharks within, there's no better way to help protect this last frontier with whatever contribution you can make to SRI. Under the guidance of Founder and Executive Director Marine Levine, SRI is a professional and world-class non-profit organization. Tom Campbell, www.tomcampbell.com
I've had the incredible privilege of volunteering for the Shark Research Institute and I can confidently say that their unwavering dedication to shark conservation and groundbreaking research make them a five-star organization that's truly making a global impact. If you're passionate about marine conservation and want to make a real difference, I wholeheartedly recommend getting involved with SRI.
The Shark Research Institute continues to be on the forefront of shark preservation and education. Participating in global conservation conferences in support of preservation data garnering protection for more shark species than ever before. A weekly newsletter highlighting issues impacting not only sharks, but the entire oceanic ecosystem which we all depend upon.
The SRI is a very engaging, and captivating organization. Members of the public of all ages and backgrounds clearly benefit from the education and initiatives as provided by the leaders as well as the educational team.
From keeping regular citizens informed of the latest going on of the world's ocean, to running expeditions to support tiger shark and whale shark studies, this team does it all.

Amazing group of people using facts to help understand the vital role sharks play in the ecosystem.
SRI uses education in a variety of countries to help promote shark awareness and how best to manage the variety of species in the ocean. This information is used by local governments who can then dictate law and help protect sharks and other ocean creatures.
All of SRI's conservation work is accomplished by unpaid volunteers, and most of it with little or no recognition - but with great enthusiasm and dedication to the protection and study of marinelife around the world.

Amazing organization! I have worked with SRI for over 15 years and their dedication to shark conservation is top notch! I highly recommend them!
SRI is a nonprofit that promotes educating the public about sharks through programs and events for every age group. They participate in local and international issues, while coordinating and interacting with scientists and organizations to aid in the research and understanding of these apex predators. Marie Levine, the founder of SRI, publishes a weekly newsletter filled with current facts about shark conservation, legislation, our environment, history, notable figures in the field, fundraising support, and sponsored events. Dean Fessler, the deputy director of SRI, can fascinate you with educational lectures of his global experiences with sharks, always striving to change the negative perception people have of these magnificent creatures. I’ve been a member and supporter for years and encourage others to consider SRI as an organization worthy of donating one’s time or money to!
I called Shark Research Institute and spoke with Marie Levine. She is warm and welcoming! I volunteered to proofread the newsletters, as I became a certified proofreader. I am learning so much about the need to work against climate change and about the beautiful sea creatures of our oceans!
Working with the SRI to educate the public regarding shark behavior while dispelling fear and myths. Also, supporting global scientific research and legislation for the protection of endangered shark species.

SRI was birthed at a kitchen table with a group of marine biologists in the nineties. I was fortunate to become a member and later volunteer with this amazing group that has evolved over the years as a principal global scientific shark conservation and advocacy group.
SRI provides fact based evidence on shark events as well as liaise with governments across the world to help provide solutions and initiatives for shark conservation and in-turn protect our oceans.
The weekly newsletters are fantastic! They keep you informed not just about sharks but about ocean environmental health. The pictures are superb and the writing is outstanding and accessible to a wide audience.
This is a phenomenal organization to work for and with. We love educating the public on the importance of sharks through all kinds of programs. I especially enjoy working with kids and igniting their passion for the conservation of these magnificent creatures.
SRI is an extraordinary organization. The people at SRI are passionate about protecting sharks and educating people about sharks and they work tirelessly using traditional and innovative ways to try to make this happen. Through newsletters, talks with children, creation of expeditions, presence at trade shows & efforts to support legislation to protect sharks they aren’t about photo ops. They do the real work to protect sharks. Highest recommendation for their efforts.
I started getting the newsletters a year ago, and they are fantastic. The picture are terrific and so are the updates from all over the world. This is an intelligent, socially and environmentally conscious organization.
a premiere research and conservation organization with a history of excellent conservation and scientific research programs.
I have been associated with SRI for last 15 years . I feel SRI team is doing a great job to raise awareness about the present status of sharks and need for their protection at all possible forums.
I had the opportunity some time back to participate in one such SRI project to investigate the whale shark meat trade that was based in the city of Veraval in Gujrat, India. We were able to provide evidence of a large scale wasteful slaughtering of whale shark for their meat for export . We also investigated possibility of introducing whale shark tourism to replace the slaughtering.
The Shark Research Institute is a committed organization with tremendous expertise in its area of focus- one worthy of great support. The organization is well respected and action oriented. The Founder Marie Levine is fantastic-- very knowledgeable and certainly a leader in the field. SRI does important work well and is an active, high impact player in its field.
SRI is a dedicated group of scientists and conservationists who work tirelessly to promote the role of all sharks on our planet. Through newsletters, events and eco-trips and shark fossil hunts, members and guests learn about sharks and how important it is to have them in our oceans . I have been a volunteer for many years and never get tired of the important work I am a part of.
I have known SRI and Marie Levin personally for last 15 years. I had invited her on behalf of Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India to India and also had the privilege to visit SRI headquarters few years back. It was as much her home as SRI office, library & museum. She has been working tirelessly and travelling all over the world to further the cause of Shark Conservation. The SRI newsletter informs us all of the pioneering work being done by the SRI and its dedicated staff.
