cyberpatriot:cyberpatriot is the air force association's national youth cyber education program created to address a vital national need by drawing students to education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The core element of the program is the national youth cyber defense competition which uses a dynamic on-line cyber defense competition to identify teams of high school and middle school students who can best defend a computer network against attack. The competition begins with necessary online training for teams. After four online rounds of competition, the 28 best teams nationwide are flown all expenses paid to the national finals competition near washington d. C. , where they compete for national recognition and scholarships presented by the programs presenting sponsor, northrop grumman. Additional elements of the program include afa cybercamps, which offer 20 hours of curriculum for institutions to purchase and host an afa cybercamp in their area for middle and high school students to learn about cyber security as well as the cyberpatriot elementary school cyber education initiative which are three educational activities for parents and teachers to utilize in teaching cyber safety and basic cybersecurity principles.
