Mission: AVOL (AIDS Volunteers, Inc.) is committed to providing education, outreach, and advocacy about HIV and AIDS in central, eastern, and southeastern Kentucky in order to: -prevent the spread of HIV -inspire a compassionate response for those who face the challenges of HIV and AIDS -meet the needs of those who are infected and affected by HIV disease
Programs: Housing Program: -Rainbow Apartments- transitional housing units for people with HIV/AIDS moving from institutions or the street back into mainstream permanent housing. -Solomon House- an assisted living facility for people in the advanced stages or their disease. -Mortgage, Rent, Utility Assistance Supportive Services: -Assistance with transportation, food and clothing expenses, prescription co-pays, etc. -Mental Health Assistance -Drug and Alcohol Education -Client Support Groups -Life Enhancement Activities Prevention & Outreach -Free, Anonymous Testing Clinics -HIV 101 Presentations -Community Outreach & Education Activities -Provide free condoms & safe sex literature to the community
