Mission: Aids action is dedicated to the development and implementation of sound public health policy in response to the hiv/aids epidemic. We work to advance federal policies that improve the quality of life and ensure access to treatment and care for all those living with hiv/aids. Aids action promotes scientific and evidence based hiv prevention policy to reduce the spread of new infections. Through our advocacy efforts, we work to ensure an adequate investment of resources to meet the needs of those living with and at risk for hiv/aids. At the top of aids action's policy agenda, is the development of a comprehensive national aids strategy to end the hiv/aids crisis in the united states.
Programs: Educational efforts to inform policy-makers and the public on the needs for a national aids strategy culminated in the release by the president of the united states first comprehensive national hiv/aids strategy.
educational efforts to inform aids service providers and people living with hiv/aids on the impact of the health care reform law, the affordable care act, on hiv prevention hiv-related care and treatment.
educational efforts to increase public awareness of the funding problems facing aids drug assistance programs throughout the country.
development and dissemination of public policy information on the role of syringe exchange programs in the prevention of hiv infection.
