Providing assistance to others is the best way to give back to the community! ARDC provides that opportunity in a streamlined, dependable manner, making it easy for us volunteers to give our time where it's needed. An added bonus is meeting all the wonderful, friendly seniors!
Between the staff and all of the volunteers, I feel like this organization is made up of saints and angels who have the biggest hearts and are so passionate about serving seniors. ARDC is a tremendous resource for our community. Transportation and other services provided are crucial to help senior citizens maintain their independence and stay in their homes.
I became involved with Aging Resources 5-6 years ago shortly after I retired. I couldn't have made a better choice. I started by taking a 90 year old legally blind vet to the grocery store on a regular basis. His primary need was that he couldn't read labels and find what he wanted. We became very dear friends over the 3-4 years we shopped together. He has passed, but I always think of him with the biggest smile.
Over the years I have met and served many clients of Aging Resources and found that they have a meaningful impact on my life as well as my hope that I am returning that favor. I love hearing their stories, learning about their life experiences and becoming a companion of sorts for the 1-3 hours I might spend with them.
Douglas County has a significant need for AR's services and they fill it so well. I am proud to be part of their organization. Well done, AR!
I have been a volunteer with this organization for 3 years now and I think its a wonderful nonprofit who helps people stay independent. It is very rewarding to help older adults get errands done and get appointments taken care of. I can’t even imagine not having a car or not being able to just run out for this or that so I love helping others take care of life’s needs when I can. During the pandemic we have also made monthly care calls to check in with our clients and develop relationships to combat any loneliness arising from quarantine or isolation and to assess any needs that come up. Clients often tell me they really appreciate the communication and the occasional grocery donations that are delivered. Its a wonderful organization to be a part of!
After I retired, I started looking for a way to make a positive contribution to our community. So I attended a Volunteer Fair in Highlands Ranch, and after reviewing the many pamphlets I brought home, Aging Resources of Douglas County stood out among all others. I made a phone call and learned they were in need of more volunteer drivers in Highland Ranch. Early in my career I had experience as a part-time chauffeur, so helping seniors who needed a lift was a perfect choice for me.
I soon found great joy helping many seniors remain independent. I enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. Some of our clients became “regulars” who I saw every week or two.
Near completing my first year of volunteering for ARDC the coronavirus changed everything. Reluctantly I gave up driving for my family’s safety. Then I was asked to transition to telephone “Care Calls” to check with our clients staying at home. I now talk with more people every week than I used to drive to doctor appointments or shopping trips. Listening to their concerns, worries, needs and sometimes offering advice I now continue to enjoy being a volunteer in spite of being at home all day.
None of this would be possible without the support of the amazing staff at Aging Resources. I’m a small part in this first-rate organization run by caring professionals who demonstrate daily they really love working with and helping our clients and volunteers.
If you are looking for a volunteering opportunity working with seniors or are a senior needing assistance, I urge you to contact Aging Resources of Douglas County.

This organization is such an incredible resource for assistance with aging issues. Additionally, the services provided to members support senior citizens to age in place. It takes just a little bit of help, a small thing like a ride to a doctor appointment or to the grocery store, to maintain your independence. ARDC staff are keenly focused on supporting senior citizens and their friendly caring voices brighten anyone's day.
I have been a volunteer with Aging Resources over the last decade. It is a wonderful organization that pairs volunteer drivers with seniors in the community to help them remain living independently at home.
The staff is kind, caring, and conscientious. Volunteers receive training and they drive because they have a heart to help seniors. Our clients are the best too. I've meet so many wonderful people with interesting stories to share through volunteering. Aging Resources is a hidden gem in the county that has grown tremendously over the years. It's really a win-win for our clients, their families, our county, and the volunteers!
I’ve been a volunteer with Aging Resources for two years and love the clients and the organization. The staff is very focused on doing all they can to meet the needs of clients, and they are also committed to the volunteers and working within whatever constraints they have. I appreciate that I can volunteer as much or as little as I want based on my schedule. It has been so rewarding to get to know the clients and help them with their transportation needs.
I have volunteered with Aging Resources for 4-5 years now and it is such a rewarding experience. The clients I get to serve are so appreciative of everything I get to do for them. I have met so many wonderful people and feel privileged to get to do so many things that don’t take much time but mean so much to them. I have not found an easier way to help people that has such a huge return.
Additionally the staff at Aging Resources is absolutely First Class. They provide many opportunities to serve the clients but without any pressure. They take great pride in what they do and really love their members. They look at their members as family and go to great lengths to meet their needs. They serve hundreds of members but they know them all by name and work hard to stay in touch with them.
If you are someone looking to volunteer, or are an older person that could use one of their services, I would highly recommend Aging Resources of Douglas County.
I love being a volunteer for this organization. The seniors I have met while volunteering warm my heart and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve.
It’s truly amazing how the little things we take for granted mean so much when you can’t do them. I’ve been on several ARDC calls to help some less agile person to replace some light bulbs, get up on a ladder to install new batteries in smoke detectors, etc. Just a few minutes of my time—and a bit more to enjoy the visit and kibbutz—that brings relief and happiness to another person, while giving me a feeling of fulfillment. Thanks ARDC for these experiences and your very smoothly run, generous organization.
I was looking for an organization that could help me and my neighbors, as we age, to stay independent and involved in our community. I found Aging Resources of Douglas County. There is so much generosity of spirit, along with a can-do spirit that supports members and volunteers alike. And the range of available services is comprehensive.
This organization is a very valuable asset to the community, especially for those of us who need a little help from very friendly volunteers and staff.
I started out by volunteer driving a number of clients of ARDC. Then I met Bev, a woman who could no longer drive, couldn't see well, and had a hard time with Proper Nouns. But.. she is the dearest, sweetest woman and someone I am proud to call my friend. Every time I leave from a trip, it is I who am uplifted and made joyous. Aging Resources takes care of the big stuff, like recording my miles and places stopped: I get to have the fun part!
The staff is so incredibly friendly, helpful, and passionate about what they do. I cannot imagine a Douglas County without Aging Resources. The work they do has such an incredible impact on this community, and it just keeps improving as time goes on. Thank you, ARDC, for changing and improving the quality of life of Colorado's population. This organization should be a nationwide model for effective aging resources.
As a teacher in Douglas County, we have partnered with ARDC and it has been a wonderful learning experience for the kids! The resources and support that ARDC offers their community is so inspirational and shows the kids that they really can make a difference in their world! Highly recommend this nonprofit and fully support their vision!!
I've been volunteering with ARDC for five years, and loved every minute of it. The staff is kind, helpful, and involved every step of the way. It is a great way to volunteer individually, or with a group of people. There are opportunities that fit any schedule and skill set.
THANKS SO MUCH ARDC! Words truly cannot even begin to relay ALL of the AMAZING and INCREDIBLE things about how much ARDC impacts lives daily! Karie and the ENTIRE STAFF are so caring, professional, thoughtful and even though the list goes on and on the best part of ARDC is they are family! As a fuIl-time wheelchair user I have been so blessed to be able to receive rides from ARDC for a few years now and it has given me such freedom and independence! They have wonderful drivers and to have the opportunity to be able to go to the places I need to (Dr appointments, grocery store, etc) like everyone else is something I can never tell ARDC thanks enough for!
ARDC changes lives through their numerous outreach programs and amazing willingness to be such a present part and help to the community!

Aging Resources of Douglas County is the only Countywide non-profit assisting vulnerable older adults. The staff and volunteers have hearts for service and I would be comfortable having them assist my mother or grandmother. ARDC cares more about their clients and their well-being then they do anything else. They are the BEST!
