Programs: Funds were granted in support of "operation lifechild", a program of doctors for life international, a non-governmental, non-profit making organization establilshed in south africa in 1991. Lifechild sponsors 12 orphan and vulnerable children centres (ovc) caring for 300 children in six of the nine provinces of south africa.
funds were granted in support of "hope for korah", a non-profit charitable organization that supports the children & families living in korah (an urban slum in the city of addis ababa, ethiopia). This slum began as an outcast leper community seventy-five years ago and now consists of 130,000 people. To this day people infected with leprosy continue to flee to korah for treatment, however, many people now suffer from tb, hib/aids due to extreme poverty and deplorable living conditions.
