Programs: The mission of awp, founded in 2001, is to advance the leadership of women within jewish organizations, promote new models of shared leadership, and advocate for work-life policies that allow women and men to pursue meaningful careers, and lead personal lives infused with deep jewish values around family, education, culture and spirituality. Awp acts as a catalyst to accelerate systematic change. While women predominate as professionals in jewish organizations and,in part as a result of awp's role, are steadily rising to leadership roles, men continue to occupy many of the top executive positions in national jewish organizations and federations. Awp's methodology translates the research and initiatives on gender equality and women's advancement from other arenas - the corporate sector, academia, and the professionals - and customizes them to the jewish communal context. As a result, many jewsih organizations have adopted new workplace policies and practices that support women's advancement and improve overall effectiveness; and many women are being appointed to top posts.
