Energy policy is primarily determined at the state and regional levels, and aee institute carries out its mission by providing a platform for the discussion of advanced energy issues and the development of policy frameworks for use by a range of state and regional stakeholders across 26 states. In articulating the public benefits of advanced energy, aee institute shares technical assistance, communications expertise, and state of the art economic and policy analyses of the advanced energy business sector with state and regional partner organizations, policy makers and other interested parties.

21st century electricity system: at a time when utilities are grappling with the imperative to transform their operations in order to meet the demands of a secure, clean, and affordable energy future, aee institute works to shape "utility of the future" discussions across the country. Through convenings and engagement with utilities, businesses, regulators, and the public, we are building consensus around ways to modernize utility business models and regulatory frameworks, align societal interests in a low carbon economy with utility interests, and ensure the full integration of innovative advanced energy technologies into an electricity system that can meet the needs of 21st century customers.

policy: aee institute engages business leaders, policy makers, thought leaders and other members of the public in the development of energy policy ideas and frameworks at the federal and state levels. Through convenings, working groups, commissioned research, and the collection and dissemination of independent and unbiased data and analyses, aee institute serves as a centralized educational resource on advanced energy issues for policy makers, regulators, and interested members of the public.
