Mission: This corporation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code as now enacted or hereafter amended, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that also qualify as section 501(c)(3) exempt organizations. To this end, the corporation shall act to prevent depression by making available information on symptoms and treatments to schools, other organizations and the general public. All funds, whether income or principal, and whether acquired by gift or contribution or otherwise, shall be devoted to said purposes.
Programs: Mood disorders programs: awi delivered workshops, textbooks and presentations to educators and parents. These activities furthered our exempt purposes of mental health and wellness promotion using a resource listed in the national best practices registry. Trained teen and adult leaders to co-facilitate two curricula: 1) 'break free from depression' from boston children's hospital (breakfreefromdepression. Org) for grade 8+ 2) virtual wellness center from numedeon (whyville. Net) for grade 4+ distributed hard copies of the curriculum and the teacher turorial (whyville wellness center). Connected youth groups in the united states with peers in massachusetts towns and elsewhere through the 'peer leadership & depression prevention' project in collaboration with rotary clubs.
