Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development
Mission: Development of the community by helping those who have viable business plans but no capital to establish businesses in the community and to provide affordable housing in the community.
Programs: Acts community development (acd) grew out of a need recognized by acts full gospel church (afgc) to improve neighbohoods that were declining due to drug activity and violence. In 2000, afgc began to purchase properties in order to change the appearance of the neglected and abused neighborhoods. In 2002, acd was established to isolate the accounting for these activities. In 2016, acd continued it's work in the community to provide housing and other development. A single family residence was renovated at 7101 spencer st in oakland and sold to a first-time homebuyer. Acd rehabilitated an oakland four-plex and provided housing for 4 families. During 2016, acd leased it's restaurant facility to lena's, an existing soul food restaurant, for their opening of a second location. Acd also cooperated in the construction of a 59-unit residential housing complex with additional commercial space. The residential units are being leased out and the commercial portion of the project will soon be leased out to local businesses.
