Mission: Abcd's mission is to empower disadvantaged people by providing them with the tools to overcome poverty, live with dignity and achieve their full potential.
Programs: Abcd's child care choices of boston (cccb) serves as the child care resource and referral agency for boston, brookline, cambridge, chelsea, revere, somerville and winthrop. Cccb plays a key role in making child care work for everyone by providing support, resources, technical assistance, training and child care expertise to a very diverse community of more than 8,500 families and 1400 child care providers. Cccb distributed more than $50 million this year in child care vouchers to more than 13,000 children. (continued on schedule o)
abcd's energy programs keep vulnerable households safe in the life-threatening cold of new england winters through its fuel assistance program and make a dramatic contribution to reducing energy costs for low-income families in communities state-wide through its weatherization and conservation programs. Studies show that conservation improvements typically save 25-35 percent of winter heating bills. The abcd energy program made payments to local vendors to keep nearly 26,000 households warm this year and nearly $45 million was invested in multiple energy conservation programs.
