Mission: The mission of access of wilmington is to develop recreational programs and partnerships throughout southeastern north carolina to facilitate inclusive activities for individuals with disabilities and their families; thus, positively impacting their health, wellness, and quality of life.
Programs: Develops and operates accessible and inclusive sport and recreation opportunities for all ages living with disabilities in se north carolina in an effort to improve their overall health,wellness,and quality of life with 3 different programs. The miracle league of wilmington:150 participants ages 4-69 with disabilities play in a baseball league at the universally accessible ppd miracle field. Games: an adapted program for adults with physical,intellectual,and developmental disabilities. 90+ participants since 2015. Reduced resting heart rate, increased balance,and increased muscular strength and endurance among participants. Project soar: veterans and active duty service members with disabilities participate in archery, curling,cycling,kayaking,scuba,and surfing throughout the year for free.
