Causes: Economic Development, Urban & Community Economic Development
Mission: To equip individuals with financial education, life skills and assets that enable them to live free from oppression and poverty.
Programs: Housing program: "liveable" provides financial education and life skills through a group learning environment in our cohorts program, counseling to first-time homeowners, those seeking to rebuild their credit, and current homeowners facing foreclosure. Liveable is a hud approved counseling agency and maintains national industry standards for homeownership counseling.
youth program: "futureprofits" helps high school students prepare for their futures by equipping them with life skills and financial knowledge. The curriculum, which was developed by able works, is being sold throughout the country and is the basis of our futureprofits classes.
"forum" is an annual thought leadership event that explores one topic relevant to the able works mission but not addressed by the two core programs, liveable and futureprofits. Forum is a space for community members to engage with each other and a panel of community leaders for deeper understanding and impactful solutions. The funding for this program is through event sponsorships.
