I was first introduced to Lauren's House in highschool where I volunteered as a tutor and mentor for it’s youth. Over the years I have continued to volunteer and support the program's ventures. For me, Lauren's House has always been a home away from home and it is where the children of the community can come and be uplifted and celebrated in their everyday lives. It’s more than a safe haven, it is a home for whoever needs a home and a family for those who are in need of Love and Support. The director and CEO of the program Monique Graves has personally changed a great deal of my life by simply being her. She is someone willing to go above and beyond for every single member of her program. Whether it be a child, a parent, or a volunteered; Monique ALWAYS shows up. It’s been 14 years since I first joined the program and I'm proud to say till this day I still call it home. This is the kind of program every community needs at it's heart. A program that truly cares for the issues of the community, and works towards a common solution. A program that cares about the upcoming generations and ensures the mental and emotional safety it needs to be prosperous. A program that promotes not only education but morality and humility. Thank You to Lauren's House 4 Positive Change and all of it's allies and associates over the years for being such a significant factor in the growth and success of every child, and family that has been under the Umbrella of Lauren's House. I hope you continue to keep up the good work and wish you all the success in the world for many years to come.

From a long time ago I have had with this clinic. I do not know how it is still open. They have terrible customer service. Alma always hangs up on patients when they call so when she answers i already know to call again and make sure the message to my doctor gets sent and it shouldn't be this way. Also I had a NP use her phone to tell me what Google says about my daughters symptoms. This is sad that the community counts on them to help take care of them.

I can not believe how many students FCE has helped. I wish every single high school could have a program like this. It helps every single kid enter a four year college. Great job

Ravenswood Education Foundation is an exceptional organization that strives to provide an educational experience for the students of East Palo Alto and Eastern Menlo Park that is equitable to their peers in more affluent communities. REF funds many initiatives in literacy, science, art and music. Ravenswood City School District is a better place due to the dedication and support of REF. The board and donors don't just donate money - they donate from their heart because they believe in doing what is right for kids.

I was not the least bit interested in boxing until I saw EPABC in action changing lives. It is a NPO, anti-delinquency program for disadvantaged youth. Boxing demands personal fitness & self discipline, promotes ambition & personal accomplishment, helps refocus, relieve stress and aggression. EPABC has excellent role models and mentors & strong affiliations with Stanford University personnel & programs. It is an emotionally "safe" place to seek counsel and support in addition to physical fitness (anti obesity, etc) for both men and women. MMAP came here to our site last summer for the first time. We were all unsure as to what we signed up for. It sounded exciting, Music, Mural Art? All the things we all enjoy. <br> <br>Then it happened, the young people started coming through the doors and we became huge. An additional 25 to 30 people in our program! Shut the front door! <br> <br>But it turned out to be a great summer. We had a good time getting to know one another and best of all we learned more about what MMAP is really about. <br> <br>Besides it being a great opportunity for our youth to open up and express themselves in an environment that they may not normally have the opportunity, descriptions of what MMAP does for our young people begin with giving them an Education, <br> <br>Opening up Communication, Exposing them to Accountability, Diversity, Community, Murals, Music, Art, Self Expression, Recognition, Youth Showcasing, Teamwork and Collaborations would be some of the words I would use to describe MMAP. Oh and Making Friends. <br> <br>This summer proved to be even better. We are all more familiar and more comfortable with one another. The mural this year is bigger and it is beautiful! <br> <br>We are very happy to have MMAP at our site and I believe we have developed a great partnership for the future. I am happy to announce that beginning this fall we will be a year round site for MMAP. Girls to Women is an inspiring program. I watched girls from primary school age to young adults working together with admiration and support for each other. The staff is competent, energetic and supportive of girls of all ages, with age appropriate programs.

I have been involved with Eastside for several years now and have been a student sponsor for the last five. I can honestly say that this has been one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. The first student I sponsored is now in college. When I met her she was a shy girl who could not imagine that she'd move very far from home. Now she is a confident young lady with big aspirations who is going to college at an east coast university ... 3,000 miles from home. She is there, the first person in her family to go to college, because of her hard work, the unrelenting dedication and passion of the Eastside staff, and the energy and support of her fellow Eastside students. For me, it was a joy to be able to participate in her success at Eastside and beyond and see that every dollar I spent was making something amazing happen. I encourage you to talk to someone at Eastside or visit the school and experience the uniqueness of the place. I don't doubt if you do you will want to support the efforts of the students and staff as I have.

I've been involved at Bayshore Christian Ministries for a little over a year, but I'm still a baby compared to everyone else (just see the rest of the reviews)! It's clear to me now that through BCM God opens your eyes and gives you a heart for the kids of East Palo Alto, making it difficult to turn away. Through BCM's weekly Bible studies, I've seen God work in real ways in these kid's lives. I've come to see the harshness of the environment they live in where other kids are in gangs, their parents are in prison, and they feel destined to follow the same path. It makes it painfully clear that BCM provides true hope by showing them that God has a bigger plan for their life. These kids struggle with the tough questions, and they challenge me in turn to provide answers. At the end of the day, I'm blessed to serve these kids and a God who strengthens my faith.
