Causes: Goodwill Industries, Human Service Organizations, Human Services, Job Training
Mission: To create job opportunities for people with barriers to employment.
Programs: Thrift stores - sales of donated goods received from the community. Goodwill employees process donated items for resale. Donated goods are resold in our goodwill-west texas retail stores. Stores provide retail jobs and career training to people with disabilities or disadvantages. The revenue is spent directly on programs that help people find and keep competitive jobs.
vocational training - job training and placement of handicapped and disabled workers and others with barriers to employment. Many of the people served by goodwill are those with vocational disadvantages. Goodwill-west texas provides work adjustment training. By working one on one with a mentor, this training program helps individuals build the foundation needed to find and maintain employment in the community. Work experience and training are also provided by jobs at goodwill's retail stores and through the outside service contracts.
