I’ve been volunteering for Aaliyah in Action for about a year now, and I am so amazed by the work Elizabeth is doing in honor of her daughter. She has been a pleasure to work with, and I am so grateful to be able to help her spread the word about the incredible work she is doing bringing self care to loss mothers all over the country. Thank you Liz, and the AiA community for creating such an exceptional resource for families facing the unimaginable.
We have just started providing this beautiful gift to our grieving moms. During the most difficult time this most sensitive, comforting gift reminds our moms how important they are to us. The reading materials provide find just the right words for our grieving families. The staff have truly enjoyed giving the Aaliyah in Action gifts. We are so fortunate to have been connected to Liz and the Aaliyan in Action program and look forward to continuing to link our grieving families with this amazing resource.
I have given these boxes to coworkers and friends who have experienced a pregnancy loss. In a time when they feel isolated and alone, this box is able to make them feel seen and validated. It is often misunderstood that these mothers and birthing parents are not postpartum because they do not having a living child in their arms. Aaliyah in Action reminds these parents that they can and should put themselves first and make self-care a priority in their most vulnerable time.
When I reached out to Liz of Aaliyah in Action to support my Perinatal Loss Support Group, she did not hesitate. The women of the group were so touched and loved all the items in the care package. I am so grateful for a nonprofit who cares about such a forgotten community.
What Aaliyah in Action is doing for Loss Mom’s (mothers who’s babies are stillborn) is truly incredible!
Aaliyah in Action’s mission is vital to birthing people and families to provide support and resources when they have suffered the loss of their baby. Elizabeth O’Donnell works hard everyday with boots on the ground to continue to spread awareness with a mission to prevent another family from being effected by such a tragic loss through grassroots efforts, continuing discussions with local, State and national legislature and self-care packages to provide a sense of comfort and a step towards healing.
Aaliyah in Action is an amazing organization! The boxes Liz creates for the grieving families start a ripple effect of healing amongst the receivers. These "gentle hugs" in a box help so much especially the first days after a loss. Having these on hand at hospitals is great so the families can have them immediately. We are also incredibly proud to have our book featured in the boxes for siblings.
Aaliyah in Action has provided memory boxes to so many families experiencing the loss of their baby. Leaving the hospital without your baby is the worst thing imaginable, but leaving with memories and comforting items in your otherwise empty arms is a priceless consolation. Aaliyah in Action provides this consolation to heartbroken parents.
Aaliyah in Action is so wonderful because they send a little comfort right to you in the hardest time of your life. Im thankful for the package I received. I had some sent to other loss mommas know.
When I got my box from Aaliyah in action it was because I had met Aaliyah’s incredible Mama. It has been months since my loss but receiving it was so special. The grief and pain of losing my daughter was unimaginable and I just didn’t want to feel so alone. I wish I had this when I first lost her, and I wish every mom like me could.
Now I follow all the amazing things this organization does and it’s truly wonderful to be apart of.
Aaliyah in Action is filling a void in support for loss parents that is so needed. The tragic fact that the founder, Liz, lost her first daughter to stillbirth makes her uniquely aware of what would be comforting to us. This is truly a labor of love for her daughter and all our babies and it shows in every detail. As a donor, I was proud to know that a small donation would let a loss family know they are not alone and the community witnesses their grief and honors their child with them.
Volunteering with Aaliyah in Action has been an absolute life changing experience. Founder and Aaliyah’s mom, Elizabeth, brings passion and personal experience to such a worthwhile cause. While accomplishing these tasks, Elizabeth takes time to connect volunteers with other organizations and facilitate their growth within the nonprofit field.

Aaliyah in Action provides comfort to mothers going through the unimaginable loss of their babies. While there are no words or ways to make mothers feel better during this time of trauma and grief, they can feel comfort and support from others who have been through it. Aaliyah in Action is a much needed charity in the world of infant loss. There are so many women that suffer a loss of a child whether it be through miscarriage, stillborn or other reasons and this is charity (AiA) is just providing a small dose of hope in a time that can seem hopeless. The wide reaching support that Aaliyah in Action provides is unparalleled in this area and is strengthened by the community partnerships created. It's unfortunate that this need exists but it warms my heart to know that when a family does experience a loss they will have a small token to let them know they're not alone and they deserve care and support. As someone who provides support to families who experience a variety of pregnancy outcomes, I deeply appreciate that AiA is integrating the distribution of boxes and resources into the local health systems to easily provide them to parents.

It is so important for any woman who has gone through the unspeakable loss of a child as a result of miscarriage or stillbirth to know she is not alone and that there are others who know their pain. Aaliyah in Action’s mission to help women at this difficult time and try to provide some comfort is priceless.
My family has suffered the horrible loss of my Great Niece who was born still at 7 months. There's just not a lot that family on the periphery (like Great Aunts!) can do to help out in these tragic situations. Aaliyah in Action provides an avenue for folks to do something - to send self care comfort packages to families in pain. Maybe it doesn't sound like a lot, but sometimes good things come in small packages for mothers and families in so much hurt. I also wanted to help out other families and Aaliyah in Action provides a very easy way to donate to just a very good cause.
I can’t say enough good things about Aaliyah in Action. This organization goes above and beyond to make mothers who experience loss feel less alone. A small act can go such a long way and Aaliyah in Action is the definition of that.
