I have been, and am a client of A Way Forward. I find them to be a welcoming, safe and nonjudgemental environment. I found them at a critical time in my life when I was experiencing a crisis, and did not know where to turn. A friend in recovery recommended that I go and visit there. I felt instantly at home , and with their kind and engaging demenior, was able to come down from my from my crisis. I felt no longer triggered in my trauma zone, and was able to with their assistance to find hope, and the ability to gain clairity about my situation. This allowed me to deal with the crisis in a clear-headed way. They have a great front pouch, and I find that it is place to hang out and share a cup of coffee with others, and experience a sense of belonging.
I started coming to A Way Forward as an attendee of recovery groups, but the sense of community and family I found here made me want to get more involved. I have now been a volunteer for more than a year and have really enjoyed facilitating and taking part in many of the groups and structured classes. What A Way Forward is doing is very different and very effective! I feel like I found the missing link in my recovery, and I appreciate the opportunity to carry the message.
I have anxiety depression coupled with alcoholism addiction and loneliness due to isolation. Away forward has provided me with friendships a place for counsel and some wonderful meetings that are off the beaten path and lovely to attend. I look forward to seeing my friends some of whom are staff at the facility. The camaraderie and the feeling of safety is present every time I walk in the door. And I can count on them for a sugar buzz anytime.
I am passionate about people seeking help to recover from substance abuse and having programs easily assessable. Most people have been affected by addiction in one way or another -- personally, family member(s), friend(s). A Way Forward offers groups/classes for people in recovery as well as those affected by a loved one's addiction. Their services are free to anyone regardless of income. The environment is welcoming and non-judgmental. There is a deep sense of community at A Way Forward. As a volunteer I have witnessed the dedication and commitment of the entire team. They help anyone who walks through the door and if not their area of expertise will work to find the appropriate resources for the individual. Referrals are frequently made from attendees to their family and friends which is a great indication of the amazing work being done--Cindy
I highly recommend A Way Forward to anyone interested in recovery- whether you're just getting started on your recovery journey or you have years under your belt. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. They truly make this place feel like home!
They have not turned anyone away. My joy of knowing there is a place available for people to go to anytime is wonderful.
I came across A WAY FORWARD about over a year ago. I noticed a display ad in the Times Call, and I thought maybe this group would be great for my son. I called and spoke with Debbie Platts, and I was excited about their presence in Longmont and all the great things they wanted to do within the community. The first time I walked through the doors of this cute yellow home I felt both safe and a sense of acceptance. I have really seen first-hand the growth they are experiencing and the tremendous help they have given to so many individuals who have walked through the door. There are no monetary barriers there in order to seek help at A WAY FORWARD. A WAY FORWARD is truly a grass roots non-profit, and they rely totally on donations and grant money to keep their doors open for their continued growth and added programs. They are always looking for volunteers who are willing to give their time to help others. Not only do they offer help to the addict they offer support to the families of the addict. I personally attend this group and I know I am not alone and there is support for me as well. I am now one of the Board of Directors and I feel proud to share this program with others plus always thinking of ways to help them grow. Once you walk through the doors of this little yellow home you will feel the warmth and a sense of peace and the willingness of those inside to help the addict get well. You are welcomed there!
