My experience with Ship in the Woods goes back several years. I have interacted with this organization as a patron, an exhibiting artist and as an informal adviser. Leadership is dedicated to creating a self-sustaining venue for art, music and cultural events that respond to a local community of artists, intellectuals, influencers and collectors. Time and time again this organization has exceeded expectations of the local community by putting on cutting edge, compelling relevant art shows and concerts. They are a priceless asset to San Diego county.
In the world of digital conformity, this non-profit enables young minds to reach out into a world of creativity that continues to be programmed out of our lives. Supported by local government and Southern Californian's alike, this organization provides a pillar of artistic expression for all. It has been at the forefront of artistic culture in San Diego and Southern Orange County, and will continue to do so into the future.
Great venue! The best gallery for cutting-edge contemporary art in San Diego county, by far. Excellent music curation. The regular events bring together music, visual art and performance art (loosely) organized around a relevant theme and with a festival atmoshpere which is family-freindly with good food and drink available. Must visit if you are lucky enough to be in the San Diego area when an event is scheduled. Beautiful location, too.
A Ship In the Woods is an amazing event! This event supports local artists, culture, small businesses, and the art scene in San Diego.
A Ship in the Woods Foundation makes meaningful connections across art, culture and people, and nature. A celebratory and inclusive place for the showcasing of art and the nurturing of art making in the context of an urban nature, A Ship in the Woods is a destination for artists who are neighbors and a public that makes pilgrimages to this gem, this ship in the woods.
Ship of woods is a cultural oasis in San Diego bringing art, music and film to a community which traditionally lacks in these areas.
It brings together artists and art enthusiasts from a diverse cultures and backgrounds.
It’s an organization that is desperately needed to grow culture and art in San Diego.
I have had the privilege to work with ship in the woods for the last six months. I’m happy to volunteer my time to advance its goals in having an open, immersive art cultural experience in San Diego.
A Ship in the Woods mission as a cultural incubator is truly identifying and is seen through everything they produce. With every event being incredible as they continue to re-define what it means to be a non-profit in the arts.
As an artist who has worked with A Ship in the Woods, but in a consulting and exhibition capacity, I can say that this organization is doing a great job of offering a space for artists to create and show work in San Diego County. Our region lacks the funding and support it deserves for the arts, and Ship is one of the few organizations in the region where artists has the freedom to showcase their work, and gather with the community.
Outstanding organization devoted to creating intriguing and challenging experiences! San Diego needs more like this!
A Ship In The Woods offers the most unique perspective on art, and art culture, in the San Diego area putting on thought provoking events in a truly unique space while asking poignant questions. An ecologically focused group who's interests and support expands beyond art in the traditional sense and into places like science and culinary spaces. An open minded collective that supports and elevates artists while also giving back to community.
The passion and actions of Ship In The Woods and their music, art, and more events is amazing. I have attended several thought provoking events, and had experiences beyond what I imagined. We are so fortunate to have them in our community.
SHIP represents a most unusual team of artists, curators and music aficionados that plan and execute some of the most exciting and forward thinking experiences in the San Diego area. Their events weave together fantastic musical artists from the SoCal area with art installations, which are often scattered across their collective home and 2-acre wooded grounds.
Some photos I've taken of their events are online here: http://www.streetbeastphoto.com/SHIP
