Causes: Civil Rights, Civil Rights, Social Action & Advocacy
Mission: A closer look inc's mission is to promote awareness of public and private resources available to the public on matters of health and social justice through the production of film and outreach campaigns.
Programs: A closer look is producing a film called children of the inquisition to promote public awareness of religious persecution and discrimination. A closer look has spent $303,740 during 2017 on this project. We provide educational outreach materials. We have also been offering community group screenings of children of the inquisition with educational discussion panels. These have included the society for crypto-judaic studies in dallas, tx and philadelphia, pa, the jewish community center and historical society in greenwich, ct, shearith israel synagogue in new york, congregation b'nai zion in el paso, tx. A closer look also produces materials for visually impaired patients and their families and doctors to make everyone aware of low vision services that can enhance the lives of visually impaired people. To that end, joseph lovett also lectures regularly at physician conferences to spread the word of the importance of low vision rehabilitation.
