Programs: A child's hope foundation continued focusing its volunteer efforts in mexico in 2016. We increased the number of our mexico work project trips this year to 17, taking a total of 695 volunteers to three orphanages in baja california, mexico and one orphanage in guaymas, sonora, mexico. We delivered groceries, toys, clothing, educational and medical supplies. We purchased building materials for our volunteers to build retaining walls, sidewalks, beds and to remodel dormitories at the orphanages. At rancho de los ninos orphanage, one work project focused on installing an irrigation system to help the orphanage sustain its operations through agriculture. Working with baja family outreach, our volunteers served breakfast to children living in the old city dump in tijuana, mexico. We also spent significant amount of time caring for infants and playing with other children in the orphanages to deepen our friendships with these children and their caregivers.
achf gave monetary donations and grants to five baja orphanages and one guaymas orphanage we work with. The orphanages use the majority of these funds to pay utilities and other bills, purchase groceries and buy uniforms that are required of all mexican children to attend school.
achf gave one monetary donation to baja family outreach, which is an organization that runs a mission in tijuana to feed breakfast to some of the most impoverished families in that city. The grant was used to buy uniforms and supplies for the children to be able to attend school.
