I went on a discovery trip with my school to the Word made Flesh centers in Moldova and Romania. Getting to see the work that they do was amazing, and they have done so much to build the centers up from the ground into a safe space for vulnerable kids. They are an incredible community that make a huge difference in the lives around them.
My time in Romania and Moldova was one I will forever remember, and an opportunity I am continuously grateful for. Being able to immerse myself into a new culture, and having the chance to join in community with friends across the world was truly a blessing. It was an experience that challenged me mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and I continue to lean into how it impacted my view of poverty and missions amidst the greater Kingdom of God.
I was a remote intern at WMF and they were a loving, fun, and compassionate family of believers striving to do the work God has for them to help others worldwide. They were flexible with my internship hours and other requirements for college. I highly recommend them for any student or person who wants to partner with this WMF family.
I had the opportunity to serve with Word Made Flesh as international staff serving children and youth in Sierra Leone, West Africa for three years. Word Made Flesh International partners with local churches and national staff to minister among the most vulnerable in places around the world. In the context of Sierra Leone, WMF opened a day center offering warm meals and tutoring along with family, school and workplace support to youth and children at risk. The work that we did was effective and significant, but the method of how WMF operates by collaboration, partnering with local nationals and joining hands together in the work was even more meaningful.
As an active member of this organization for many years, I could see that everyone strives to serve their neighbor with love, compassion, and care. Word Made Flesh values creativity, collaboration, and ongoing growth. I fully recommend it.
Currently working as an intern! I definitely advising asking a ton of questions before jumping in, but I love the strategy. An organization that is enthusiastic to help.
I had to opportunity to travel to Word Made Flesh România. This was beyond a formative experience, the staff was so inviting and extremely intentional. Specifically, the staff was intentional in teaching volunteers about the historical context that shapes the culture, socioeconomics, and political institutions. This background was critical in understanding the mission of the Galati center and how they are serving the community!
As a six-week intern with WMF Sierra Leone this past summer, I cannot recommend this team and experience more highly! They welcomed sacrificially, walked alongside me graciously, led with humility and served with intentionality. Less of a workplace, more of a family :)
I have traveled with Word Made Flesh to Romania and Sierra Leone. Both of those trips left a lasting impact on my life and my perspective of our call as followers of Jesus. Each community has unique values and beautiful communities. I learned about simplicity, suffering, joy, and service. They truly embody living alongside the worlds most vulnerable in a transformative way. I highly encourage anyone wanting a true and real perspective of cross cultural ministry to participate !
I was in Word Made Flesh Romania for two months this past summer working at the day center for vulnerable kids. I discovered far more than I could have imagined. Grace, Gift, and Compassion are words of the Gospel that I know beyond theory; I have seen poverty and brokenness and, by God's strength, have entered into those spaces to love. The staff are prayerful, slow to anger, kind and welcoming. The kids are gifts, invitations to love Christ alongside them in serving Christ with them. I have loved it, and will continue to treasure the memories and knowledge. I will not be the same.
Word Made Flesh is an amazing organization that helps work with the world's most vulnerable. All of the staff are so kind and generous and their love for Christ shines through them and their work. I was an intern with the International office and loved my time with them and learned so much about serving, I also had the opportunity to grow in my spirituality!
Traveling to the Navajo Nation was an amazing experience of entering a faith community often forgotten in the United States. We spent the beginning of the trip exploring the breathtaking land and important historical locations, narrowing in focus as we entered more and more intimate settings. I loved the time we spent at a children's home and a small church on the reservation. The structure of Navajo culture prioritizes family and reminded me of the importance of our relationships above all else.
Word Made Flesh is a great organization that provides amazing opportunities for students and young adults such as myself to experience places and people with a story to share. On the Navajo trip, group members were able to immerse themselves in a new culture through studying about, learning from, and interacting with the Navajo people. I would recommend this organization (and the Navajo trip in particular) to anyone looking for an incredible learning experience.
I had a great experience being a part of the Word Made Flesh Navajo Outreach Team. Word Made Flesh provided our team with a very helpful platform to fundraise for our trip and also provided us with great team leaders. I would highly recommend going on a mission trip through Word Made Flesh if would want to both challenge your cultural knowledge and strengthen your faith.
I was apart of the Word Made Flesh Navajo Discovery team this past year. It was an amazing time and trip to be apart of. The leaders from Word Made Flesh we’re so inspiring and prepared to give us there best as they led our cross cultural trip. I would gladly go again!
With my experience, WMF intentionally treats all people with humility and compassion. The leaders encouraged the students on the learning trip to have an open mind and question their own biases. I am thankful for the approachable leadership and the WMF values.
Word Made Flesh serves with passion and excellence to some off the most vulnerable of the world’s poor.
I spent my summer with Word Made Flesh in Sierra Leone. It was the most challenging thing I’ve ever done but also the most fruitful. I learned so much about God and His love for His people. I learned the value of slowing down and pouring into people. I also learned how to allow people to help me. I love the WMFSL community with all my heart, and I hope to go back and see them. The joy, love, hope, and grace that permeates this community it so beautiful, and I miss it every day.
Word made flesh is a great organization that helps students and others travel the world to learn about different cultures and to minister to others. I received nothing but support in preparation to the Navajo Nation
I have been so thankful to get to know Word Made Flesh- Sierra Leone at a deep level by volunteering with them for a month nearly every year since 2008. They minister to people in Kroo Bay slum to meet basic human needs, needs for justice and for faith in ways that no other organization does. I’m very thankful for WMF!
This summer I was fortunate enough to work childcare at the staff gathering for Word Made Flesh. This org is doing exceptional work in their communities and made me feel like family my first time working with them. They are so personable and the most considerate group i’ve ever worked with. I had the opportunity to network with staff from all over the world like Bolivia, Romania, Moldova, Sierra Leone, and more. The kids were absolutely a joy to care for and it was so cool getting to see everyone in this organization get together and intentionally connect. It was truly a blessing and has me so eager to continue my work with them in Romania next year!
Word Made Flesh Sierra Leone became known to me when I came to do ministry in Freetown with another organization. As I became acquainted with the staff, I was impressed with the commitment and intentionality in their ministry. I became more acquainted with the WMF community and was happy to be invited to join the board. I have interacted with some of the groups to have an idea of what is happening. The organization I am working with has partnered with WMF to sensitize the community on human trafficking and has supported some of the survivors they identified. We have had joint trainings to build the capacity of our staffs.
I have been a donor to Word Made Flesh for a number of years. I have visited one of their locations in Africa; as a result, I truly understand their mission to live and work among the poorest of the poor. With Christ at the center of all they do, they have mentored homeless, disenfranchised young people into school and trade programs. Some of them have become self-supporting leaders in the community and witnessing members of their families (mostly Muslim). I sincerely believe that Word Made Flesh is a viable, meaningful organization, taking the message of Christ into a broken world.
I has a wonderful experience with this organization this summer. I met so many incredible people and had quite a few conversations I will not forget any time soon. They do good work all over the world and everyone who works for them cares deeply about the people they help.
I did a 4 month internship with Word Made Flesh and loved every second of it! I spent time in their communities in Romania and Moldova. Throughout my time here I felt supported and encouraged by every WMF staff member I interacted with. I got to see how each person involved in this nonprofit cares about each other and about the communities they are serving. I met incredible people and gained so many great life lessons and experiences. It was such an uplifting and inspiring time.
I spent my summer serving with WMFSL. Although there were hard and trying moments, it was a beautiful experience. I learned so much about missions and what it means to walk alongside people and show them a glimpse of the love and grace of God. While in Sierra Leone, I fell in love with the staff, volunteers, and community of WMFSL. My biggest upset is being unable to visit more often and spend more time there.
Great leadership!!! The ministry is giving opportunities and resources around the world. Transformation is vital to an organizations success and they are transforming lives
WMF provides necessary support and personnel in places with great need. They do so with quality, intention, and care.
Word Made Flesh is a phenomenal organization with an impactful vision and the leadership skills to fulfill it. They don't just talk the talk, but they walk the walk as can be seen across the globe in the communities where they serve. They are making a significant difference in the lives of those with the greatest needs.
WMF has changed my life! I have read their publication, The Cry, for years, and I have learned so much about the heart of God for the poorest people in the world through it. Their work means a lot to me!
WMF is worthy of a top rating because of their mission in being called and committed to serving Jesus among the most vulnerable of the world’s poor. They have been extremely helpful in connecting with our students and aiding in developing our students vision for leadership in society and the church.
They are extremely responsive and communicate well. They always show up when they say they will show up and they seek ways to add value everywhere they go.
Excellent leadership and financial excellence! I have complete trust that the work that Word Made Flesh is doing is full of integrity.
An organization of integrity, transparency and authenticity! WMF is where "loving your neighbor as yourself" is ingrained in the ethos of everyone who serves.
Having personally visited Word Made Flesh in Rwanda, I can certainly say how impressed I am with the leadership, both in country, and with those in the international headquarters. The organization is focused ensuring that best practices are in place as they minister and support local efforts that are seeking to bring sustainable solutions.
I had the opportunity to complete an internship with WMF in their Kigali, Rwanda community. I deeply appreciate the way WMF works hard to live out their 9 lifestyle celebrations. During my time with WMF I learned the value of transformational development and holistic ministry. Learning to live a life of holistic and incarnational ministry has allowed me to better experience the beauty of community with one another and with Jesus Christ.
I'm incredibly grateful for the ways WMF seeks to make Jesus known while reconciling the Church with our neighbors experiencing poverty around the world.
I have been a remote intern and i have loved being part of the WMF organization. Weekly devotionals have been a highlight and how they interact with eacch other as staff. I have loved my coordinator Hannah and how she cares about the interns and makes sure that they are learning and having a great experience. Great organization doing great kindgom work!
I am currently doing a summer internship with Word Made Flesh INC., and it has been an AMAZING experience so far! Not only am I learning so much about working with a healthy and functional international NGO, but I feel that I am also being poured into and encouraged in the process. They truly not only value the work they do, but the people that are coming alongside the mission to do the work with them, and this is not as common as one would think. They are an amazing organization!
I was an intern for Word Made Flesh for 3 months and I LOVED my time there. They have a wonderful mission and impact on society and those they work with around the world. The management is wonderful and they purposefully train and equip volunteers and interns to go out and lead in the world.
I worked as an intern at WMF International this semester and it has been such a blast! I have grown and learned so much from the ministry and am blessed to be able to work with some of the most amazing people! They resemble God so well in their personal lives as well as the work they do, they are so intentional and relational, and just so fun to work with! I'm gonna miss working with them!
The organization does great work that is filled with hard working and passionate people. Word Made Flesh staff are creating change within the world and do it selflessly as they continue to help these communities. Working as an intern for them has been an eye opening experience and has given me a new perspective on the world and non profit work.
I've been leading worship at different board of directors meetings, staff gatherings, and other public functions that Word Made Flesh has presented and I can't really speak highly enough about the type of people they attract in terms of missionaries, volunteers, supporters, and board members. There is a groundedness in their faith and I believe it stems from their mission statement, to serve Jesus amongst the most vulnerable of the world. Since the beginning I've sensed a carefulness to dignify and humanize people with whom they work, which is so refreshing. I've been attracted to their creative culture as well - there has always been a real value put on the arts, from visual to writing to music; even their periodical, The Cry, has consistently moved me. I've been a touring artist for close to 20 years now and have managed to have touch points with a lot of missional groups, and for me, Word Made Flesh has continually stood out as a community with a lot of life and vibrancy.
I am grateful for my connection to Word Made Flesh. It is apparent that people are central to their work on all levels. The transparency throughout provides a sense of trust and points to the integrity of the organization.
I have known of the work of Word Made Flesh since the mid 1990s. WMF works in relational ministry among the most vulnerable populations around the world, including the slums of Kroo Bay, Sierra Leone or among HIV+ women in Malawi, or prostitutes in Bolivia, or many other communities. WMF is a light in very dark places.
WMF is an organization dedicated to serving the poor in the most vulnerable and margionalized people groups around the world. They are committed to long term sustainability and presence in the community.
Word Made Flesh is an amazing organization. They do so much good around the world. Much of their work involves coming alongside those on-the-ground in the developing world, offering vocational opportunities, freedom from trafficking, and education & hope for future generations of the communities with whom they work.
Word Made Flesh staff members do an excellent job of living in community with people around the globe, taking the time to learn how to best serve them. They work to serve holistically, seeking to meet not only spiritual needs, but physical, psychological, and emotional needs as well. They truly love the people they are in community with. Guided by the Holy Spirit, they faithfully work to see long term and meaningful healing and change in the people they serve and places they live. I volunteered in the home office, and had a wonderful experience. I was encouraged by their commitment to prayer, and their love for their friends around the globe.
Word Made Flesh is responsible, passionate and committed to offering long-term support to vulnerable communities, with a focus on women and children.
Making a huge difference, one life at a time.
I was a Board Member with Word Made Flesh (WMF) for 6 years and I continue to love and support this important organization! The mission of WMF is to serve Jesus among the most vulnerable throughout the world and they do this in a holistic way that helps to meet spiritual, physical, mental and emotional needs. A key differenciator is that the work of WMF is completed humbly, vulnerabally and within the context of community. This compassionate work by their staff is done with simplicity in mind and with an attitude of a humble learner - knowing it is better to give than receive, yet consistently feeling as if they receive more than they give. I highly recommend Word Made Flesh and the incredible work they do! Jared Landreth, former Board Member
