For over 15 years Molly's House has been a blessing for families in need of a place to stay while attending to the needs of a loved one while they are in the hospital. MH has helped relieve the family of the financial burden of a place to stay, sleep and freshen up. It is a much needed service and has grown into an even more important aspect over the course of the past three years as the downturn in the economy has impacted those in need even more.

We have been suporting Molly House for as long as it has been in the community offering it services. Either through my newspapers with free advertising for thier fundraisers or events, stories about the valuable services they offer and most recently as a past president and current board member.
The story of Molly Sharky is a very moving one. The House is a result of this young girls wish for other families. To be a complete community without the services of Mollys house would not be possible.
I am proud to serve this wonderful and much needed facility.

Molly's House is a local non=profit that gives hospitality to family members of those needing the services of Martin Memorial Hospital. It was a dream of a local girl who died of cancer at a very young age. Her parents made sure her dream was fulfilled with a lot of community support in building and furnishing the facility. They continue to participate in the organization in many ways. The Executive Director makes sure to provide a home-like atmosphere in the three story facility to make the families stay comfortable. The importance of having family visit patients daily is an important aspect of early recovery after procedures or surgery.

Molly's House is a hospitality house in the Victorian decor that welcomes families to stay while a loved one is in the hospital nearby. It offers a comfort to guests in their time of need and concern to be close by in its peaceful, quiet surroundings. A definite gift to our community build together by many, many volunteers and donors in honor of a young women who lost her life to cancer. To my knowledge, today it is run solely by volunteers with only one paid director, a testment to a true non-profit.

Molly's House is one of the shining examples of what a community can do when it comes together. Molly had a dream of a warm, comforting place for families to be near an ill relative. Molly wrote in her diary while she was suffering with Leukemia and the community built her house. Countless people volunteered and everything that was needed to build the massive 3 story home was donated. Every year there are fundraisers that the community is asked to donate everything from cash to tooth paste. The art gallery is a wonderful event that everyone should visit. It is so alive with passion and color, something Molly would have really loved. The experience of realizing Molly's dream by being in the house is one that is sure to touch your heart strings and make you realize the awesome power of the human spirit. Molly's house is a true testament of how generous and wonderful a community can be.

Molly's House serves as a bright beacon for families who could not afford to be with their critically ill member. It is abeautiful facility located within walking distance of Martin Memorial Hospital. Molly's invests in the local art community by decorating its walls with fine art every month and serving as a gallery for these outstanding artists at the same time serving critical patient's families. The gallery helps cheer up the families who sometimes spend months while their loved ones are recoveringat the hospital. The staff is outstanding.

Molly's House is a positive asset to Martin County. What a wonderful, homey place to stay when you have a child in need of medical assistance. Worrying about financially handling a place to stay near the hospital should be the least of your worries. The warmth of Molly's House is a welcome refuge for distressed parents-a home away from home.

In addition, Molly's House hosts art exhibitions monthly, which not only lets the public view the work or local artists, but also enables them to become familiar with the facility and the resources offered.

I have lived in this community for over 20 years and remember when Molly's House was just an inspiration by a courageous young girl who wanted to help others. The dream come to fruition has helped hundreds of families just as I believe Molly had envisioned. It makes me proud to live in a community where this facility was able to be built and is sustained by the community and the hard work and dedication of volunteers. I have recommended Molly's House to families in need and they are very grateful.

Molly's House hosts monthly art shows and a reception for the exhibiting artists. This gives local artists such as mysef an opportunity to show their work, and adds to the pleasant, homey ambience of Molly's House. The monthly receptions , attract many who have never been to Molly's and are unfamiliar with its wonderful services. I've noticed they not only enjoy the art there, but check out the premises...even peeking into the chapel and the rooms that are opened to them. They never fail to be impressed at the cozy welcoming atmosphere, just as I am.

As VicePresident of the Hobe Sound Fine Arts League, I have had numerous contacts with Louise Murtaugh and her devoted staff at Molly's house over the past few years. Each season our art league exhibits members' paintings at this wonderful gallery while raising monies for our scholarship fund.
Molly's House serves not just the families of hospitilized patients but the entire Martin Community. There is no other organization like this in our community nor are there more dedicated people.
As a non-profit organization, we are eternally grateful for the contributions of Molly's House.

I am a fairly new volunteer at Molly's House and have been amazed at the amount of people who do utilize a house like this. Before I started here I had no idea. All the volunteers are so warm and helpful. They lend an ear when someone just needs to talk, take phone messages and dispense mail for the guests. It is a very warm and relaxing atmosphere, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the guests can relax on the patio or porch. Guests also don't have to worry about how many days they can or can't stay, as they would at a hotel, because of the cost. It is close to the hospital so there are no transportation worries. I am very impressed with what Molly's House provides for those who are stressed out over a family medical emergency and how everyone there assists in helping the guests to feel comfortable and "at home". The volunteers are all great, but so is Louise Murtaugh, the executive director and Samantha Kayser, public relations. They have all been wonderful in "showing me the ropes" and also assisting the guests.

I had the privilege to be chosen for the 2011 Molly's Calendar. As a result, we exhibited our work during the month of December 2010. This was my first time when I came to find out about the great job that Molly's house does for our communiy. We were able to learn about guest of patients at the Martin Memorial Hospital who can stay at Molly's house for a small donnation per night since they can't afford a hotel or any motel nearby .
The volunteers and the staff at Molly's house are outstanding. We were able to sell calendars to the public for $10 each and that was very rewarding since the word got out about Molly's house and its service to our county.
The house is a very warm, cozy and elegant which features three floors with nice bedrooms and kitchen on each floor. The atmosphere is very relax and quiet. I think the people who stay at Molly's house senses the hospitality spirit and great values of Molly's house.

Molly's House is a place where families of people in a medical crisis can come to stay. It is a home away from home. Molly's House was the dream of a young girl with a terminal disease. Molly Sharkey and her family travelled around the country for treatment for her leukemia. Many times there was no place other than a hotel to stay., adding to the familly's expense and difficulties. In Molly's diary after her death, detailed plans for a home for families in need to stay in Stuart were found . Her family and the townsfolk worked together to create a beautiful, welcoming home which is well used today. It has been my experience as a volunteer that Molly's House has been filled to overflowing this winter season. People express gratitude that they receive a warm and welcoming place to stay.

The suggested charge to families is only $20 per night. If a family can't afford even this, it is alright. Molly's House is run only on the contributions made by others.

When little or no hope exists, miracles can occur - especially when the afflicted receive strong support from their families. However, difficulties exist for many family members -- e.g., unavailability and costs of lodging -- especially when family members must come from afar.

Molly's vision and her house enable families to gather in a family setting and focus their time, energy and efforts on supporting the afflicted in their time of need. The staff and volunteers take many burdens off family members and provide strong support and encouragement.

I met a woman recently who left Molly's House in her estate plans. . . . Molly's House meant so much to her! Her husband was in the hospital and she didn't have transportation to drive back and forth. Every evening she would walk across the parking lot of Martin Memorial to Molly's House. She would open the door and feel immediately at home. She said the staff and volunteers were there for her physcially and emotionally in the most difficult time of her life!

I have been a volunteer at Molly's House since I came to Florida in 2005. I consider Molly's House my most favorite volunteer opportunities.

The people staying at Molly's House tell us over and over that they are extremely grateful to be able to experience the hospitality Molly's House provides at a time when they are facing a precarious situation within their families. Also, the fact that very often they have the opportunity to communicate with other people in the house who are going through similar situations.

Another comment that is frequently heard is that Molly's House gives them a feeling of a home away from home with so many amenities that are provided for them during their stay. We recently started to offer breakfast in the morning that is so much appreciated by anyone who is rushing out early to see a loved one and very often has very little time to
take care of their own needs.

Over all, we as volunteers, are very proud of the services Molly's House can provide and are happy to be of service as well.

Molly's house strives to make the stay very comfortable and friendly. Continental breakfast is provided and the folks are able to prepare their own meals in the 2 complete kitchens. The guests can enjoy their private room and bath and the outdoor patio area when not visiting their lovd one.

I have been incredibly impressed with the dedication, the drive, and the professionalism of the staff and volunteers of Molly's House. In addition, the founders' family and their trusted advisors have implemented a truly inspiring facility to help families in their time of urgent need.
Recently my own family had a serious health challenge in a remote city and several of us went to provide physical presence and all manner of support. Unfortunately, there was not such a facility as Molly's House in this city, and the experience of being a family member to a dangerously ill loved one was made worse by the lack thereof.
Stuart is truly blessed to have Molly's House and the staff that keeps it working. Please help provide them with the funding needed to keep performing their noble work and hospitality.

The house provides comforatable, affordable boarding for those who have loved ones in the hospital, nursing home or the hospice residence. Their caring voluteers make people feel welcomed and at ease as they deal with the illness of someone close. Molly's House also opens its doors to the arts community who have the opportunity to display their paintings or photographs, are highlighted through the gallery opening welcoming new artists monthly and then provides a nice decor for those who stay at the house. We are a blessed community to have a facility such as Molly's House to touch so many.

It is very hard to add to all the comments on how wonderful Molly's House is. As Molly's Father, I along with her Mother Debby, family and friends had to continue her Dream. A Dream that was open ended and beyond the scope of our imagination. To know that the Dream of a dieing young girl would help over 12,000 families to date and growing more every day is a great tribute to her and to those that participated. Her love of life is in Molly's House and that love and kindness is shared daily with each family as they come and go. Some with good news and some with bad but in any event their journey was not alone and certainly not without love and understanding. It is never a parents thought to loose a child and that loss is devistating. It is fair to say that we do recieve great comfort in knowing that this 'Home Away From Home' gives great comfort to those celebrating birth as well as those suffering a loss or illness. Louise Murtaugh is the Executive Director and in charge of Molly's Dreams, she seems to have a direct line of communication with Molly. When we learned that our brother was in critical condition at Martin Memorial Medical Center, suffering from stage four cancer and complications, my brother, myself, and our wives drove seventeen hours straight from our homes in Maryland and Virginia to be with him. We arrived knowing nothing about the area, but in response to our queries the staff at the ICU referred us to Molly's House.

When we arrived at Molly's house we were amazed. The accommodations are comfortable, clean, safe, and very affordable. The house is convenient to the Medical center and to the cancer center where our brother was receiving treatment. The staff, both professional and volunteer, are wonderful. Many of them have been through crises similar to what we were experiencing and they have been a great comfort to us.

I too am an artist that showed at one of the excellant shows at
Molly's House.
This has given exposure to many many people as to the quality of
Molly's House, and opened eyes and hearts to the crying need for
such a place.
How many of us have had loved ones in hospitals when we feel so
isolated from friends and family? Molly's house serves as a
tender loving home to those who perhaps become ill while visiting
our state. Also those who live a distance from the hospital, are
welcome to stay in order to be closer to the hospital facilitiies.

It is a soft place to land and be comforted to those experiencing
chemo treatments across the street...some too weak to travel and
some who are completely alone with no family members near by.

We are blessed to have people in our area, such as the ones who
started Molly's House, and who themselves have gone through
the desperate sorrow of loosing a child with cancer, and now
reach out compassionately to others with equal suffering.

Molly's House is wonderful and as everyone now realizes, it is
a struggle to keep everything together finacinally this day and age.
We do need all the help with this special place.

As a volunteer for Molly's House, I feel I can share some first hand experiences about what a wonderful organization Molly's House is. This house is run basically all by volunteers with a couple of paid employees and the Director. I have seen many families, mostly very poor families who are unable to stay in a hotel while their family is in the hospital but they can stay at Mollys House. We also have had fire victims which have lost everything in a fire. We had one woman who not only lost her husband from illness but lost her house in a fire. It is so rewarding to know you have somehow helped people like this in some small way. These times make it very difficult to keep a place like Molly's open so I hope you will consider this letter for the contest. I could go on all day with many stories but most important is Molly's House is a wonderful place for many unfortunate people and they need $5000 to keep doing the wonderful job they are doing for this community. It was a terrible time of traveling and constant worry. The hospital where we were did not have an outside support system. It would have been a blessing to have had the warm, loving support system that is offered by Molly's House. 11 years ago we moved to Stuart and over the years I have watched Molly's House generously support families in tragic situations, giving people the comfort of home and easing many burdens while they wait for the recovery of loved ones. I know how grateful those must feel that have received the benefits of Molly's House. I know what it would have meant to me had it been available in the area we lived. Molly's House is a true blessing to our community.

Molly's House is truly a home-away-from -home for the families whose loved ones need medical care at Martin Memorial Hospital. This hospitality house exudes warmth and the caring staff and volunteers go above and beyond to assist all who stay with them. I've had the need to stay at other hospitality homes and, in comparison, the level of cleanliness as well as caring staff is tremendous at Molly's House. All this is offered for a nominal suggested donation which is why I opt to support them by donating funds whenever possible.

Molly's House was there for our family when a loved one was hospitalized at Martin Memorial Hospital. I had always thought that Molly's House was just for families of children with cancer but I was surprised to find out that the house is there for anyone in need. One of the nurses in the icu gave us their information and offered a room there as respite anytime anyone in the familiy needed to get away from the intensity of the icu for awhile. It was a life saver. They are the greatest!

The past 3 years have been enlightening and heartwarming as I have come to know the the people who nurtured Molly Sharkey's dream of a temporary home for families of people receiving medical care on Florida's Treasure Coast; many of the people who actively participated in the creation of Molly's House; the financial supporters; the volunteers who keep Molly's House open 24/7/365; the staff that constantly strives to find new ways to increase the value of Molly's House in the community; and most importantly, the many beneficiaries of the services provided.

There is nothing more meaningful than responding to someone in their hour of need. When a loved one requires hospitalization or another form of medical care, most people respond without thought for their own needs. Molly's House fills that void in a warm, sympathetic, supportive environment.

Thousands of people from all over the world will confirm unequivocally that the need is great and rarely considered. The world is a better place thanks to the vision of a terminally ill young lady and loving parents who honored her dream.
