I went to see the Amazon rainforest in June of 2018. I had wanted to go there since I was 13 years old. I wanted to see how human beings could live being sustained by forest, how everything they needed was provided by a forest. I went and returned angry that other developed people wanted to take what they wanted from this forest for their own needs, not having had any relationship with the indigenous people, the animals, plants and insects that thrived there, they wanted to just go in and extract what they wanted to produce more of what we don’t need and destroy a whole culture of people we know little about. I have been a partner of Pachamama Alliance non profit organisation since my incredible journey into the forest and those tribes we were given hospitality by. I could not be happier with the people of the Pachamama Alliance to these indigenous peoples for their sensitive help and care. Pachamama have made me feel part of how they are helping. Friends of the Urban Forest was founded about 50 years ago, way back in the 20th century, to plant trees in San Francisco in under-served neighborhoods. Because of the stranglehold of bureaucracy, it's super hard to just plant a tree in this city. You need at least 2 permits and 2-3 city agencies involved. Despite repeated requests for 18 months to please plant a tree in the Excelsior neighborhood--a vast urban tree desert--Friends of the Urban Forest has not delivered. No tree plantings here--and 300 apartments are being built on Mission and Russia streets. <br>What Friends of the Urban Forest does ask for is money, they get grants from the city, and organize tree tours--but no tree plantings which is in their mission statement. They used to just plant trees in the cement deserts of the south part of the city where immigrants, lower-income, Black and brown people. Not any more. They are not a non-profit serving the city, heat domes, the drought, urban infill and construction--things that are really hurting the city with climate catastrophe. I cannot donate to them anymore.

As someone who has worked closely with BCPP, I can confidently say this organization is doing groundbreaking work that truly matters. BCPP stands out because they focus on prevention through eliminating environmental risk factors, addressing the fact that fewer than 10% of breast cancer cases are due to family history. Their science-based approach to identifying and removing toxic chemicals from everyday products is both rigorous and actionable. What impresses me most is how BCPP translates complex scientific research into meaningful advocacy and policy change. They don't just raise awareness, they work directly with industry to reformulate products, push for stronger regulations, and empower consumers to make safer choices. Am a fifth generation Californian. While there were not that many state parks when I was growing up, my family frequented them regularly. As an adult I spent many years as a board member on the California State Parks Foundation. Through the Foundation I was able to enjoy even more parks. CSPF opened this outdoor world to many.

I have followed Pollinator Partnership's work for over 10 years, the agency continues to evolve and educate communities as we face serious climate change. The organization deeply cares, is very approachable, and provides current research and solutions that individuals, institutions and companies can implement to support the health of pollinators. We must all take ownership in the care and growth of pollinators. Pollinator Partnership has brought hope and value to that endeavor with their exceptional knowledge and dedication.

Earthjustice does not seem to see the big picture of what they do - on Kauai they have effectively delayed and blocked a huge propsed clean energy project by Kauai Island Utility Cooperative to develop a clean power generation storage faciity and water dam project on West Kauai involving the Waimea River. KIUC had gone through over a decade of planning and mitigation of many factors for this - including a major water agreement involing all major stakeholders and an approved environmental impact study by the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources. After this green light go ahead by the State a small disgruntled group of locals - NIMBY - protested some of water diversion from the river for the hydro generation facility, and the resulting water irrigation dispersion for Hawaiian Homelands and development of agriculture business on Kauai - when this had alrady been decided in prior water mediation agreements. But Earth Justice took on their case for these minority of people citing absence in EIS of the water diversion may casue previous pesticides on the land to wash into the ocean - when there was no way to measure this unknown impact and the state had already approved it. This caused the project construction to be delayed to the point where it may not be feasble to go ahead, after almost a year later delay instead of further litagtion costs KIUC has agreed to drop the water diversion, reducing 25% of power generation as well as the benefit of the irrgation water for agriculture development. Earthjustice is supposed to be for enabling clean power generation, as well as sustainable developments, but they actually blocked this to the point where KIUC may have to drop the whole total project as construction timelines have been missed, costs increased- which end result in continued electric generation by oil instead of the clean solutions project. Bottomline Earthjustice involvement in this litigation and blocking this clean energy project will continue depedence on fossil fuels for electric generation for many years to come on Kauai. I also emailed people at Earthjustice with my concerns last year and no one responded-not even a courtesy reply. I have donated to them in the past but will not anymore. Earthjustice failed to see that in any project of this size, it is not possible to please alll the people all the time, but theoverall outcome of the project would have benfited the vast majority of the people on Kauai with clean energy and development of sustainable fresh agriculture crops grown on Kauai.

How many organizations do you know that do several wonderful things at once? PlayGround supports emerging playwrights, brings together incredible talent so networking can occur, offers fresh and sometimes startling new work to appreciative audiences, and has now branched into film production. For me, the organization has also provided a discerning and generous group of play-writing friends who have become a support group for my writing, as I am for theirs. I was invited to be a member of the PlayGround writers pool in 2006. Since then, I have written more than forty plays for consideration in the Monday night series. It has been incredibly helpful to see really excellent actors and directors work with my scripts. More than that, it has been great for me (as I am somewhat isolated geographically) to see what other playwrights are thinking and grappling with, and how the culture can be expressed with amazing creativity and resourcefulness in new work. Jim Kleinman, co-founder and main energy, has an extraordinary organization going, and he is a wizard at creating lasting partnerships with, for example, the O'Neill Foundation and the Math Science Research Institute. This organization is foundational to theatrical innovation in the US. It deserves all support!

Stiffed was an IT contractor engaged to identify illegal access to a Terra Nature computer hard disc. He found no access because subsequent use of the disc had written over (erased) any record of previous access. Stiffed was aware of subsequent use when he proposed to do the work, but did not state to Terra Nature that it would wipe out previous records. His work was useless, so payment of his fee was withheld.

I have met and spent time with people from this organization and if you care about the redwoods, they care ten times more. They are like dotting parents to these magnificent trees. I have followed the money and it gets to where it needs to go. The people who work there not only do their jobs well, they are on a mission to protect and serve the redwood forests. Those of us who love the redwoods are very lucky to have such an organized and caring group of people getting the job done.

I'm rather passionate in my work to combat climate change, and identifying and contributing to organizations that I believe can help lead us to a more sustainable future. When I was introduced to Pacific Forest Trust, I believed - and this was based largely on promises from the organization's founder - that the return on investment in the organization would be substantial for keeping older forests intact. Unfortunately, after repeated attempts to better understand how my contribution was being used (ie. quantifying the ROI), I was essentially told that I didn't need to worry about it. It was both an arrogant and incredibly alarming reply. If you are considering a contribution to this organization, I advise that you first gain a clear understanding in writing of how your donation will be invested.
